I heard Gibson when he said there was no news from Iraq and was LMAO shouting at the TV, 'You moron! That IS the news!'

But it does reenforce the actual definition of NEWS. News is an event out of the ordinary. No violence is the ordinary, normal state of affairs, while violence is, in fact, not normal activity. Because the media does such a wonderful job at finding that one violent incident and reporting it ad nauseum, most folks have the impression the whole world is at war all the time.Indigo Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17906787350123925867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-77678960494550715012007-10-22T14:28:00.000-07:002007-10-22T14:28:00.000-07:00Did you guys catch it on the news the other night ...Did you guys catch it on the news the other night when Charles Gibson said there was no news from Baghdad because there had been no incidents? And his party, whose leadership from the top down has encouraged this type of thinking should be held accountable.

Someone should run a commercial showing the video where Howard Dean says "I hate Republicans and everything they stand for" then show Harry Reid calling Bush a "loser" and a "liar" and Nancy Pelosi's choice words too.

Then show Pete Stark and ask "Whose responsible for this kind of political hate speech?"

The answer is clear.Mike's Americahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01262938295909490454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-6988253685728305722007-10-20T23:31:00.000-07:002007-10-20T23:31:00.000-07:00It's the drug of choice for liberals these days! It's the drug of choice for liberals these days!dcathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04363324417913254868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-33510796697100991332007-10-20T23:30:00.000-07:002007-10-20T23:30:00.000-07:00Yes and this guy needs a controlled dose of haldol...Yes and this guy needs a controlled dose of haldol and a nursing home!dcathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04363324417913254868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-18167898076131075602007-10-20T16:05:00.000-07:002007-10-20T16:05:00.000-07:00Yeah, I know, Gayle. But I can't help but feel that this kind of rhetoric and deportment just debases the entire system to the point it becomes the norm - which it has become in many ways.

It is when our leaders cannot contain their own remarks within the bounds of agreed upon decencies that our 1st Amendment rights will begin to be seriouly curtailed.

At one time it was simply understood that yelling fire in a crowded building was not a good thing to do. Now we have laws against it because we are told to question authority and now we can't say alot of things. Often, even what we think is being abbrogated.

The coarsening of society is not good because it allows behaviour that is simply rude and slowly eats at the foundations of our consensual society until it will crumble from it's own self-created irrelevance. How can we fight Islamofacsism when good and evil are equally weighted; how can we oppose union with corrupt Mexico when we can no longer define corruption; how are we to survive as a free nation when we, each and everyone of us, can't control ourselves and govern what we say by any acceptable norm of a good and decent people?

With people like Stark, this nation cannot endure. Lincoln's government and nation "of the people, by the people, for the people" shall perish from this earth precisely because the people cannot control themselves and must increasingly be controlled.Indigo Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17906787350123925867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-25894085268954871162007-10-20T15:17:00.000-07:002007-10-20T15:17:00.000-07:00Indigo, I understand how you feel but think about ...Indigo, I understand how you feel but think about this: Let him talk! The more these people act like the traitorous hateful idiots they are by spouting their vile lies, the more they expose themselves. Given enough rope they may hang themselves yet.
