Last I looked, the stock market is/was/and will always be, a gamble. So are you saying Capitalism is a form of consentual stealing? And if it's consentual, how is it stealing?

Where did you get the info that "indian" tribes own more land than Trump? (Not World Nut Daily, I hope?) Actually, the Brits own the most land in NY. Did you know that? The Brits are the largest foregine land owners in the entire country...at 8%. Now THAT'S what I call irony.

But then if you're talking about native owners of land...why would that be irony? Except for the fact that we stole the land? Buying back land is capitalism, not irony. Buying back land that was stolen is capitalism mixed with irony, and tragedy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-1164503272736783262006-11-25T17:07:00.000-08:002006-11-25T17:07:00.000-08:00The Indians occupying the North American continene...The Indians occupying the North American continenet were not the first people here either. They came in the second great migration some 20,0000 yrs ago. The Pilgrims met with interloppers, not the original inhabitants. The first group preceeded the second by another 20,000 yrs or so. Remnants of the first migration can be found today in Central and South America. How did the first migration get so far south?

Perhaps Black Hawk can give us a clue. In 1851, the Plains Indians entered into a treaty called variously The Treaty of 1851 and The Horse Creek Treaty. Nevermind that neither side honored the treaty or any of the hundreds of treaties signed. What is important is the discussions that took place there among the tribes and, ultimately, the honesty displayed by Black Hawk.

There was much argument amongst the Indians about the price the US gov't was offering for the land. Few thought the price fair and wanted more. Some thought the price was fair as the settler's were going to take the land anyway. Some thought they should never sell the land because the land belonged to the Great Spirit, thus belonging to no one so could not be sold. If anyone took the land from the Cheyenne, Lakota, and Arapahoe then it was theft and should be fought against by force of arms.

Finally, Black Hawk stood to speak. He was an honored warrior of wide renoun. Black Hawk gathered his thoughts and spoke to the whites first then to his fellow warriors, “You have split the country and I don't like it. What we live upon we hunt for. And we hunt from the Platte to the Arkansas and from here up to the Red Butte and the Sweetwater. These lands once belonged to the Kiowa and the Crows, but we, the Ogallala, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe whipped these nations out of them. And in this, we do what the white men do when they want the land of the Indians.”

Mudkitty, you would be hard pressed to find any country occupied by the truly original inhabitants or even the second wave inhabitants. Those places do exist, but not many can name them as they are being lost even now as the American Indians buy back their ancestral lands with monies earned from tribal land gambling and legal tax-free tobacco. Various Indian tribes today own the majority of land in New York State, not Donald Trump. Here in California, more and more land is being bought up by primarily two groups - Mexicans and American Indians. Without a shot being fired, in another century, Indians may once again possess what they once lost. And doing so with a form of consentual stealing - gambling. Ironic, huh?!Indigo Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17906787350123925867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-1164378529218654062006-11-24T06:28:00.000-08:002006-11-24T06:28:00.000-08:00That little story would be all well and good, exce...That little story would be all well and good, except that the pilgrims stole the land.

Now I do realize that stealing what you can, is part of captialism, so know that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-1164352497452799552006-11-23T23:14:00.000-08:002006-11-23T23:14:00.000-08:00Ouite an incentive, mon!Ouite an incentive, mon!Indigo Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17906787350123925867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12392119.post-1164350447857225172006-11-23T22:40:00.000-08:002006-11-23T22:40:00.000-08:00Here is my incentive after my hard labor!Oh I thou...Here is my incentive after my hard labor!

Oh I thought you said resorts ^..^

I couldn't resist!

Another trip is in the works!
