No Photos of Osama, But We've Got These That are Just as Gory

As of today, we will not see a picture of Osama bin Laden dead or buried at sea. The Obama White House has determined the photos pose too great a risk to national security and military personnel safety despite the fact this nation is still at war, has declared a state of heightened alert for retaliatory terror attacks and our fighting forces are being shot at, wounded, and killed everyday. Mostly, I think, the pictures are just plain icky.

CNN described photos the White House had received saying
... the White House received 3 sets of photos yesterday. The photos included:

1. Photos of OBLs body at a hangar after he was brought back to Afghanistan. This is the most recognizable with a clear picture of his face. The picture is gruesome because he has a massive open head wound across both eyes. It’s very bloody and gory.

2. Photos from the burial at sea on the USS Carl Vinson. Photos of OBL before the shroud was put on and then wrapped in the shroud.

3. There are photos of the raid itself that include photos of the two dead brothers, one of OBLs dead son (adult adolescent, maybe approx 18 yrs old) and some of the inside scene of the compound.
The British newspaper, The Guardian, today published a series of Reuters photographs from the bin Laden compound including images of three unidentified deceased males, one bearing a striking resemblance to Osama bin Laden.

In the ever changing story emanating from the White House in which the nation was assured by CIA Director Pinetta that a photograph of Osama would be released to the public, we are now told no photos will be released. In an interview with CBS 60 Minutes reporter, Steve Kroft, Barack Obama said,
"It is important to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence or as a propaganda tool," said the president.

"We don't trot out this stuff as trophies," Mr. Obama added. "The fact of the matter is, this is somebody who was deserving of the justice that he received."
Because he just can't stop himself, Obama further explained,
"we don't need to spike the football... given the graphic nature of these photos it would create a national security risk. ...We discussed this internally. ...Keep in mind that we are absolutely certain that this was him. We've done DNA sampling and testing. And so there is no doubt that we killed Osama bin Laden. ..."There are going to be some folks who deny it. The fact of the matter is, you will not see bin Laden walking on this earth again."
Besides, Osama's 12 year old daughter says the body of the tall/long dead guy was her dear old Pop. What more proof is needed? And with Obama's fleeting familiarity with truth and transparency, if you can't trust a 12 yr old child who's just been through a SEAL raid, who can you trust?

Osama Gave Bunnies to Neighborhood Kids

Doesn't say much for Pakistan's ISI when a 12 year old boy knows more about the people in the bin Laden compound than they do.
Zarar Ahmed, 12, is a resident of the small town of Abbottabad, not far from the compound where Bin Laden had been hiding with relatives and associates for the past five years until his death at the weekend.

Zarar told how the family had even given him a gift of two rabbits during one of his visits to the $1 million home. He said: "I used to go to their house. He had two wives, one spoke Arabic, and the other one spoke Urdu. They had three children, a girl and two boys. They gave me two rabbits.

"They had installed a camera at the outer gate so they could see people before they entered the house."
A man who loves children and bunnies can't be all bad, unless he's grooming future suicide and bunny bombers.

Thursday at Ground Zero with Obama

The White House announced today that
Thursday, President Obama will mark the death of Osama Bin Laden by visiting the site where the Twin Towers were toppled, the White House has advised reporters.
It is altogether fitting and proper that he should do this. After nearly a decade of chasing Osama bin Laden across the face of the earth to mete out the justice he so richly deserved for the destruction of so many thousands of lives, it is appropiate to bring this chapter of terror full circle in the place of its greatest and vilest triumph, to show the raid for what it truly is - cold blooded murder and wanton destruction.

I fear, however, that unlike Lincoln at Gettysburg, Obama's intent is less honorable of those who gave their lives at Ground Zero than a dog and pony show glorifying the wonders of Obama.

Pakistan gets into the chase for what's left of OBL's family. Can't run, can't hide.

Navy SEALs Killed Osama bin Laden Today

A Navy SEAL team assaulted a mansion by helicopter in a wealthy neighborhood of Abbotabad, Pakistan about 160 miles from Jalalabad, Afghanistan and 100 miles from Islamabad, Pakistan. The resultant firefight lasted for about 40 minutes; no Americans were killed, however several persons in the mansion besides were killed including a couple of messengers and a son of Osama. A woman was killed while being held as a shield by the bad guys. Osama himself resisted and took part in the gun battle. Reportedly, one helicopter experienced a mechanical malfunction and landed safely, did not participate further in the action, and was destroyed by the operators.

Intelligence teams watched delivery men and messengers as they entered and exited the three story mansion compound that was surrounded by a 12ft high wall. The home had no telephone or Internet services which neighbors said was very unusual, sources have said. Neighbors also said that they put their garbage out for pick-up, but the target mansion burned their trash. Just as with the action that killed Zawahiri, the head of al-Qaida in Iraq, several years ago, it was the mundane activities of daily life that proves the most deadly for bad guys.

The action was set in motion last August when Pakistan informed US officials of information that led to bin Laden's death. After months of tracking the intel, President Obama last week ordered the SEAL team into Pakistan to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. The SEALs commenced the operation early Sunday morning - today, this morning - that killed the world's most wanted terrorist.

Thanks go out to the SEAL team, the Pakistani officials who passed on the information, President George Bush, and President Barack Obama.
