No Photos of Osama, But We've Got These That are Just as Gory

As of today, we will not see a picture of Osama bin Laden dead or buried at sea. The Obama White House has determined the photos pose too great a risk to national security and military personnel safety despite the fact this nation is still at war, has declared a state of heightened alert for retaliatory terror attacks and our fighting forces are being shot at, wounded, and killed everyday. Mostly, I think, the pictures are just plain icky.

CNN described photos the White House had received saying

... the White House received 3 sets of photos yesterday. The photos included:

1. Photos of OBLs body at a hangar after he was brought back to Afghanistan. This is the most recognizable with a clear picture of his face. The picture is gruesome because he has a massive open head wound across both eyes. It’s very bloody and gory.

2. Photos from the burial at sea on the USS Carl Vinson. Photos of OBL before the shroud was put on and then wrapped in the shroud.

3. There are photos of the raid itself that include photos of the two dead brothers, one of OBLs dead son (adult adolescent, maybe approx 18 yrs old) and some of the inside scene of the compound.

The British newspaper, The Guardian, today published a series of Reuters photographs from the bin Laden compound including images of three unidentified deceased males, one bearing a striking resemblance to Osama bin Laden.

In the ever changing story emanating from the White House in which the nation was assured by CIA Director Pinetta that a photograph of Osama would be released to the public, we are now told no photos will be released. In an interview with CBS 60 Minutes reporter, Steve Kroft, Barack Obama said,

"It is important to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence or as a propaganda tool," said the president.

"We don't trot out this stuff as trophies," Mr. Obama added. "The fact of the matter is, this is somebody who was deserving of the justice that he received."

Because he just can't stop himself, Obama further explained,

"we don't need to spike the football... given the graphic nature of these photos it would create a national security risk. ...We discussed this internally. ...Keep in mind that we are absolutely certain that this was him. We've done DNA sampling and testing. And so there is no doubt that we killed Osama bin Laden. ..."There are going to be some folks who deny it. The fact of the matter is, you will not see bin Laden walking on this earth again."

Besides, Osama's 12 year old daughter says the body of the tall/long dead guy was her dear old Pop. What more proof is needed? And with Obama's fleeting familiarity with truth and transparency, if you can't trust a 12 yr old child who's just been through a SEAL raid, who can you trust?
