First Amendment Suspended for Deepwater Horizon Spill

Media access to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been restricted by unknown government agents since late May "in the name of protecting wildlife and habitat" David Carr of the New York Times wrote on June 7th. New Orleans Times-Picayune photographer Ted Jackson, told the AP, access "is slowly being strangled off." A few days later, Jackson said the situation had reversed, "I am not sure what happened exactly, but the restrictions seem to have just gone away," adding that, as of Tuesday, he could hire a plane and fly where he needed.

More severe restrictions have recently been issued by Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen according to CNNs Anderson Cooper in violation of the 1st Amendment that guarantees freedom of the press.

The situation became so serious that even Al Gore protested the restrictions June 14 calling them "disturbing." Some have claimed the government issued restrictions are part of a BP scheme to scuttle news coverage of a bad situation. If so, then BP and the Obama administration must be acting in concert to not only restrict media access, but also to keep America and the world in the dark about any possible collusion.

And this happening as, We the People, once again celebrate the birth of this great nation.

Nancy Pelosi is Amazing

It is truly amazing how she has gone through 70 years of life without a brain. In this video, Miss Nancy actually says unemployment checks "creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name."

Remember, you can ask any economist who will, Nancy assures us, tell us the same thing.

Amazing, just amazing.

Obama Immigration Reform Speech

Address at American University, July 1, 2010.

Every example Obama gives for opening our borders are of immigrants, legal immigrants, who complied with the immigration laws of the United States. Einstein, Tesla, Carnegie - all legal immigrants. From 1991 to 2000, 10-11 million legal immigrants were admitted, that's more than in any decade before, a population increase of 1/3 of 1%. Previously, the highest immigration decade was 1901-1910 when 8.8 million people arrived legally, an increase of about 1% in population. But, it isn't the legal immigrant who is in question; it is the illegal immigrants who crash the borders, smuggle themselves and others into the country, and by doing so, commit a crime with far too many going on to commit more crimes. California prisons are 1/3 occupied by convicts who entered the US illegally and committed further crimes, while Phoenix, Arizona is the US kidnapping capital, second only to Mexico City in the Americas.

Obama was also wrong about the Emma Lazarus "give us your poor" poem that is attached not to the Statue of Liberty, but to the pedestal upon which Lady Liberty stands. France donated the giant statue to America, mostly because they had no place to put it and wanted to get rid of it, years before Lazarus (a Jewish Zionist) had written her poem, "The New Colossus," about the giant statue of a "mighty woman... Mother of Exiles" crying out silently to the worlds displaced persons "yearning to breathe free."

No one is denying the opportunity of immigration to the United States, no one is denying the valued history of immigration, no one is denying the immense contribution to the richness of America that immigrants have invested, no one is denying the advances in science, medicine, the arts, cuisine, and general quality of life. All we are asking of immigrants and our Federal government is to follow the laws of entry, enforce the laws of entry. If that were to happen, then, welcome, come on in.

Jan Brewer is right about the signs, but...

... there's just a small problem.

First the video -

Governor Brewer leaves the impression the public lands were closed and the signs erected by Obama. But, according to FOX News, the public park area has actually been closed to the public since 2006 when George W. Bush was president.
Roughly 3,500 acres of taxpayer-funded government land in Arizona have been closed to U.S. citizens since 2006 due to safety concerns fueled by drug and human smuggling along the Mexican border, according to a statement posted on the website for the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.

The section of land -- about 3 percent of the 118,000-acre refuge -- has been closed since Oct. 6, 2006, when "there was a marked increase in violence along the border due to human and drug trafficking," according to the statement released Wednesday by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The closed area extends north from the international border for roughly three-quarters of a mile; a notice of the area's closure has been posted on the refuge's website since 2006. The remainder of the refuge remains open to the public for recreational activities.

"At this time there are no plans to reopen this southernmost 3/4-mile portion of the Refuge," the statement continued. "However, since 2006 the Refuge has experienced a significant decline in violent activity in the area thanks to ongoing cooperation between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection."

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Fox News on Wednesday that violence against law enforcement officers and U.S. citizens has increased in the past four months, further underscoring the need to keep the area off-limits to Americans.

"It's literally out of control," Babeu said. "We stood with Senator McCain and literally demanded support for 3,000 soldiers to be deployed to Arizona to get this under control and finally secure our border with Mexico."

Dennis Godfrey, a spokesman for the Bureau of Land Management's Arizona office, said roughly a dozen signs were posted earlier this month along the Sonoran Desert National Monument advising that travel in the area is not recommended due to "active drug and human" smuggling.
Bush didn't secure the border, he just closed the public parks to Americans without warning anyone of the danger. Obama won't secure the border, he's put up warning signs instead. The difference is that Bush said the border would be secured and we expected it to be done. Obama has never made any great attempt to convince anyone he would seal the border and no one ever doubted him. At least, we've been warned.

Creeping Catholic Sharia

Secular sexual crimes have been committed by Catholic priests. Belgian police have taken action against bishops and priests involving men in their 60s and 70s who've lived with the shame of sexual abuse most of their lives. To now have Pope Benedict claiming Catholic sharia should trump secular civic law is an outrage.
VATICAN CITY (AP) - The pope on Sunday called the raids carried out by Belgian police investigating priestly sex abuse "deplorable" and asserted the right of the Catholic Church to investigate abuse alongside civil law enforcement authorities.

In his message to the bishops, Benedict stressed that justice must take its course.

But he also repeated that such crimes are handled by both civil and canon law "respecting their reciprocal specificity and autonomy."
Shame on the Church and the Pope. Punishment for worldly crimes belongs to Caesar. Il Papa should render up the criminals to the state authorities posthaste and see to their souls on his own time.
