Palin on Leno

Sarah Palin appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. She worked without cue cards or teleprompter. RightPundits reviewed the show saying Palin was "charming..., refreshing, upbeat, relaxed interview that received ample applause, even in L.A. ...The interview isn’t long and Leno hits on several subjects, from media bias to family to the Olympics to Sarah’s “palm” notes. And she throws out some great soundbites. Listen for the phrase, “all wee wee’d up,” an Obamaism that should never be forgotten.

Throughout the interview she received repetitive applause, along with a hearty shout-out from the audience for the Tea Party Movement. I’m waiting for the MSM to start calling Leno’s audience “racist”."

You know how something reminds you of something else? This photo of Obama from today's health care propaganda stunt reminded me of the 1966 novelty song by Napoleon XIV (aka Jerry Samuels), "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!".

West Wing Chicanery

Obama is bringing big time pressure to Dem Rep Jim Matheson of Utah to firm up his support for the health care bill.

Matheson "voted against the bill in the Energy and Commerce Committee back in July and again when it passed the House in November. But now he's "undecided" on ramming the bill through Congress."

So Obama has turned again to the Chicago way - bribery. The Weekly Standard learned the West Wing announced today that "Obama nominated Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit."

This isn't the only fishy situation. Via Mike's America, we get this MSM under reported story -

For the second time in five months, the Obama White House is being accused -- by Democrats -- of offering high ranking government jobs in return for political favors. What no one is reporting is that this is a violation of federal law that can lead to prison time, a fine or both, according to Title 18, Chapter 11, Section 211 of the United States Code.

The favor requested in return? Withdrawal from Senate challenges to two sitting United States Senators, both Democrats supported by President Obama. The Senators are Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania and Michael Bennet in Colorado.

On Friday, Pennsylvania Congressman Joe Sestak, the Democrat challenging Specter for re-nomination, launched the controversy by accusing the Obama White House of offering him a federal job in exchange for his agreeing to abandon his race against Specter.

A connecting of dots -- by Democrats -- that leads from Colorado to Pennsylvania straight into the West Wing of the White House.

And possibly the jail house.

"It is a federal offense," said John F. Kennedy [D-MA, former POTUS], "to offer any man a federal job in return for a favor."

Nevermind the lack of birth certificate, educational records, college friends, Illinois Senate records, the mounting evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors could lead to impeachable charges.

Sexual Harrassment Fells Dem Rep Massa

Another Democrat down for the count. This time Congressman Eric Massa (D-NY), married man, Navy veteran, serves on Agriculture, Armed Services and Homeland Security committees, is accused of inappropriate sexual actions toward a male staffer. Massa claims health issues as the cause for retirement.

According to several House aides – on both sides of the aisle – the House Ethics Committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.

Massa, whose departure endangers Democrats’ hold on a competitive seat, told POLITICO Wednesday afternoon that no one has brought allegations of misconduct to him.

Asked about the sexual harassment allegations, Massa said: "When someone makes a decision to leave Congress, everybody says everything. I have health issues. I'll talk about it [later].”

The power of the majority just went to his head, I guess.

Global Warming Responsible for Rising Cocaine ODs

Global warming is the cause all good and bad, snow and no snow, rain and draught, family murder/suicide, and apparently everything else in the world.

In a study published online in the journal Addiction, researchers in the United States have discovered that accidental overdose deaths involving cocaine rise when the average weekly ambient temperature passes 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit).

Using mortality data from New York City's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for 1990 through 2006, and temperature data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, researchers found that accidental overdose deaths that were wholly or partly attributable to cocaine use rose significantly as the weekly ambient temperature passed 24 degrees Celsius. The number of cocaine-related overdose deaths continued to rise as temperatures continued to climb.

Cocaine-related overdose deaths increase as the ambient temperature rises because cocaine increases the core body temperature, impairs the cardiovascular system's ability to cool the body, and decreases the sense of heat-related discomfort that ordinarily motivates people to avoid becoming overheated. Cocaine users who become overheated (hyperthermic) can overdose on lower amounts of cocaine because their bodies are under more stress.

Bunning Wins and Loses on Unemployment Extension Bill

Kentucky Republican Senator Jim Bunning said Tuesday evening he and Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid have agreed to a deal that will allow passage of the unemployment extension bill, which also extended "COBRA health benefits, keep doctors who serve Medicare patients from getting a pay cut, give rural satellite TV subscribers access to network television and provide highway funding."

Bunning was the lone holdout to a unanimous vote asked for by Reid when the bill was introduced last Wednesday. Once a unanimous vote was called, the voting method could not be changed to something more convenient; Harry chained himself to a unanimous outcome and lost.
Reporting tonight, ABC News painted Bunning as relenting "and will no longer continue to block a vote on a bill..." that should have also contained offsets to the $10 billion authorized to continue unemployment benefits.

Tuesday evening, he struck an agreement with Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid to allow a vote on the unemployment extension bill later this evening. The bill is expected to pass overwhelmingly.

Under the deal, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid agreed to allow a vote on a measure to off-set the bill's $10 billion cost with cuts in other programs. However, the off-set measure is expected to fail, and the unemployment extension bill will not be paid for afterall.

The Hill writes,

Democratic leaders said extensions of unemployment insurance and COBRA healthcare benefits should be emergency spending that isn’t subject to the pay-as-you-go statute, which requires new non-discretionary spending to be offset with spending cuts or tax increases.

This year, facing record deficits and a debt that has exceeded $12 trillion, Democrats touted the new pay-go requirements as a necessary step to get spending under wraps. President Barack Obama signed the pay-go bill into law on Feb. 12 and Democrats are ready to waive those requirements to help get the economy going.

“Assistance to unemployed workers during periods of high unemployment are always classified as emergencies,” a House Democratic leadership aide said.

PAYGO was not supposed to be used on discretionary spending which is how entitlements, benefits, and compensations are defined. Emergency spending which is outside predictable spending budgets are exempt from PAYGO. The Dept. of Political Science at Auburn University, Auburn, AL. explains entitlement programs this way,

The kind of government program that provides individuals with personal financial benefits (or sometimes special government-provided goods or services) to which an indefinite (but usually rather large) number of potential beneficiaries have a legal right (enforceable in court, if necessary) whenever they meet eligibility conditions that are specified by the standing law that authorizes the program. The beneficiaries of entitlement programs are normally individual citizens or residents, but sometimes organizations such as business corporations, local governments, or even political parties may have similar special "entitlements" under certain programs. The most important examples of entitlement programs at the federal level in the United States would include Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, most Veterans' Administration programs, federal employee and military retirement plans, unemployment compensation, food stamps, and agricultural price support programs.

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities writing on the pay-as-you-go rule March 5, 2009, says,

The pay-as-you-go rule, also known as PAYGO, is designed to encourage
Congress to offset the cost of any legislation that increases spending
on entitlement programs or reduces revenues so it doesn’t expand the
deficit. Under PAYGO, Congress must pay for such legislation by reducing
other entitlement spending or increasing other revenues.

Congress can, however, waive PAYGO for a particular bill with the support
of 60 senators and the majority of the House. Also, PAYGO does not
apply to discretionary programs (the programs Congress funds each year through the appropriations process), which are limited instead by the
annual spending targets set in congressional budget plans.

Harry Reid is in violation of the PAYGO rule signed into law by Obama Feb. 12, 2010. Although tonight Reid has agreed to Bunning's request to provide the required tax offsets, Reid has also arranged for the offsets vote to be defeated by the Senate Democrat majority.

Senator Bunning entered into an agreement with majority Democrat leadership to follow the very rule the majority Democrats wanted, and now he is to be stabbed in the back by the majority Democrats. "Beware the ides of March" was the warning given Julius Caesar before he was murdered on the steps of the Roman Senate and the warning holds true today for Senator Bunning and the Republicans, albeit only symbolically.

Charlie Rangel Quits Ways and Means

NBC is reporting tonight, powerful Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel will voluntarily give up his fight to keep his chairmanship.

WASHINGTON - After being admonished by an ethics panel for accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean, Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., will give his chairmanship of the powerful House Ways and Means committee, NBC News has learned.

The top spot may temporarily go to Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., according to leadership sources, or to Rep. Pete Stark of California, the committee's second-ranking Democrat.

Asked by an NBC reporter if he will still be the chairman of the committee Wednesday, Rangel responded with an emphatic "yes."

"You bet your life on it," he said.

But sources indicated Tuesday to NBC that Rangel has been encouraged to step aside before the House votes on a bill to strip him of his chairmanship.

"We don't have the votes to save him," one Democratic member said of Rangel.

Rangel has a multitude of other problems that he's still to provide answers. The New York Post reported last September that

Rep. Charles Rangel failed to report as much as $1.3 million in outside income -- including up to $1 million for a Harlem building sale -- on financial-disclosure forms he filed between 2002 and 2006, according to newly amended records.

The documents also show the embattled chairman of the Ways and Means Committee -- who is being probed by the House Ethics Committee -- failed to reveal a staggering $3 million in various business transactions over the same period.

This week, Rangel filed drastically revised financial-disclosure forms reflecting new, higher amounts of outside income and numerous additional business deals that had not been reported when the reports were originally filed.

Obama Smokes, Drinks Too Much, and Can't Keep Promises

Doctors advised Obama, during his first physical since his ascendancy, to moderate his "alcohol intake" and continue the smoking cessation medication, described as "nicotine replacement therapy, self-use".

Since his time as a freshman Illinois State Senator in 2005, the "[o]ne thing he has tried to do for his children--quit smoking--is among his biggest struggles. "The flesh is weak," he said. "It's an ongoing battle. I have my gum, my patches and all that stuff." " His wife, Michelle, "told the Chicago Sun-Times that he smokes ‘about three Marlboros a day.’ " He made a promise to Michelle that when he embarked on his campaign to become president he would quit, at the time he said he was smoking about eight a day.

Yet, he continues to sneak a death stick outside the Oval Office as he also claims he doesn't smoke in the White House. When asked about the smoking by reporters, he said he had quit, but later had to admit "he sneaks an occasional cigarette"... "Have I fallen off the wagon sometimes? Yes,” Mr. Obama said Tuesday at a White House news conference. “Am I a daily smoker, a constant smoker? No." ... "I don’t do it in front of my kids," he said. "I don’t do it in front of my family. I would say that I am 95 percent cured, but there are times where I mess up."

Because his federally employed physicians advised him to "moderate" his drinking, it can be assumed Obama was drinking enough booze to cause concern. After all, doctors seldom, if ever, recommend increasing alcohol intake to excessive amounts. However, if Obama is running the country while sober, I would recommend he try excessive drinking because sober's not working.

Obama cannot quit stop his smoking addiction, has increased is alcohol consumption so much he had not noticed that his doctor had to tell him to cut back, and he can't keep promises made to his wife and children, how is that the American people can trust Obama at all?

It is a matter of trust, it is about him, and he can't be trusted.
