Don't Profile Serial Killer Whales - It's Speciesism

While Sea World was defending their decision to continue the Killer Whale show with the serial Killer Whale, Tilikum, the news editor at Short Sharp Science was busy theorizing why a Killer Whale would kill suggesting a clue might be in the name, Killer Whale.

Science Daily reports, however, that Princeton engineers have discovered a method for predicting the behavior of exotic materials that do not yet exist. By reworking an 80 year old quantum physics formula first developed in the 1920s, engineers can determine important characteristics and properties 100,000 times faster by computer modeling than previously possible.

Something is seriously wrong when the behavior of unknown, non-existent materials can be predicted, but that of Killer Whales cannot. That could be dangerously close to profiling and speciesism.
