Pirates Attack Melody

The MCS Melody, an Italian flagged cruise ship, was attacked by six pirates yesterday. The Melody was enroute from Durban, SA to Genoa, IT when it was attacked about 180 nautical miles north of the last port of call in the Seychelles.

The pirates approached in a speedboat and firing Kalashnikov rifles at the the hull and up at the bridge leaving holes in the ships sides and some broken portholes. The only injuries to the 1500 passengers was caused during the panic of the event not by any bullets. The pirates chased the Melody for about 20 minutes firing some 200 bullets.

The attack was thwarted by the captain ordering evasive maneuvers and ... wait for it... by Israeli security guards who fired back with their own weapons. Pirates don't like being shot at.

Cruise ship security is popular work among young Israelis who have been released from military duty and want to see the world. The cruise lines like them because they will return fire, rather than jump over board, or surrender as others have done.

I was so happy when I heard about this on the news, Indigo. Fighting back is a brilliant concept. Wonder why no one has thought of it before? ;)

I read that the pirates later said the lyric was ok, but the melody was really annoying. They were shooting only to make it stop. Now it's stuck in their heads.
