Pool with Two Figures

David Hockney, 1971

My family had a pool when I was a kid. I loved being underwater. It was my favorite place on Earth - underwater. No one and nothing could bother me there.

I remember how long you could hold your breath. I always wished I could do that.
Some of my daughter's earliest memories revolve around the pool and the times they had with their cousins. No worries, no fears, weightless joy, floating with watermelons, Marco Polo, the sounds of laughter, the smell of wet concrete heated by the sun.
You've brought a smile back to my cold, weary self. Thanks.

I've been in over my head more than once myself. LOL My word verification is trooper which is a great lead in to an OT comment. My old buddy Walt Monegan is trading on his 15 minutes of fame from troopergate to run for mayor of Anchorage. This is the second most powerful position in Alaska and I guess he means it to be a challenge to Sarah. Unfortunately he has championed gay marriage and I don't think that is going to play well on the last frontier. Don
