Levi Johnston Welcomed as Part of Palin Family Onstage in Front of God and Everybody

Levi Johnston departed Alaska this morning on a flight bound for St. Paul, Minnesota, site of the Republican National Convention. He is to join the Palin family on stage after VP nominee Gov. Sarah Palin speaks.

The StarTribune spoke with Sherry Johnston, Levi's mother, in Wasilla

Levi Johnston's mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family at the convention where Sen. John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for president. The boy's mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.
Her only worry was whether or not her son could handle the intense media scrutiny he'll encounter in Minneapolis-St.Paul. Everyone will find out in the next couple of nights.

So what's holding up the wedding? And will they give Bristol a break from covering up her 17 year old unwed belly with the 4 month old?

Hey Indi. I am getting tired of defending Sarah to everyone and will probably just quit doing it. I have contacted most of my family and friends in Alaska and can't seem to get one negative comment. Our buddy Tom C had a legitimate point about Pawlenty delivering Minn. or Romney delivering Michigan. My answer to that is something that employs the somewhat archaic term "the silent majority." I think there is a huge number of people out there in the bushes who have no use for Obama and don't think much more of Juan McCain. These people were quite likely to stay home on election day. Along comes this pistol packing Momma who can connect positively with the average American voter. My take is she can deliver Minn. AND Mich. Don

One commenter I read was so sick of it that s/he just started donating money to the campaign every time s/he heard something particularly outrageous.

Not a bad idea.

I agree, Don. But, defending Palin and McCain ad nauseum is part of the strategy. The two wingnuts commenting here this past weekend are not that sophisticated though. That "silent majority" has never gone away, they're just mostly quiet folk.

That is a good idea, suek. I am, however, not that wealthy.

I've been reading the stuff from TO Anonymous... he/she keeps asking when Bristol is going to be shown without Trig covering up her pregnancy. Well, the picture you've used tonight has her full figured. And, in your Sunday, Aug 31st blog (Is Sarah Palin a Bad Mother? You Be the Judge.) the 10th photo down shows her sitting with her hands folded in her lap (around her belly).
Some women don't get huge... in the 5th month or the 9th. Just what does TO Anonymous want?... a picture like Demi Moore on a front cover with a painted on tuxedo?
Give the young lady a break... parenting is hard enough without some creep wanting to look at your belly.
And as for the wedding...perhaps she doesn't want to be pregnant when she walks down the aisle. It's okay. People do that now-adays.
Just how old are you, TO Anonymous that you are so rigid in your views?

YEAH! That's my sister.

Where can I find that picture of Demi? Whoo Hoo Don
