Michelle Obama Screws-up State's Name, Insults South Carolina

Michelle Obama should have read my Wednesday post, "It's Nuh-VAA-duh, Stupid!" Mrs. Obama was is Reno today and committed the ultimate sin in a state celebrated for legal prostitution and gambling. She mispronounced the name of the state.

The Associated Press writes, Michelle Obama

was introducing her husband, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, by saying how happy she was to be in Nuh-VAH-duh. The crowd at the University of Nevada Reno immediately burst into heckles...Michelle Obama immediately realized her mistake. "Nuh-VAD-uh! Oh, no," she said, putting her head in her hands in recognition of her blunder.

"I've been in South Carolina too long!" she said, a reference to her campaigning the primary state that comes next after Nevada's caucus Saturday.

"It's nice to be here Nuh-VAD-uh! Nevada, Nevada, Nevada!" she said, making the politically correct pronunciation over and over again to applause from the crowd.
"I know how to bounce back from my mistakes."
And then she insulted South Carolina. Yep, nice bounce back.

Perhaps Michelle Obama did read the post, but chose to ignore it, or just forgot. I don't kknow. All I know is that if only people would read my blog and do what I say, the world would be a much better place.

I just hope they make enough mistakes to NOT win the presidency!!!

That would be nice, but this kind of mistake is just for the lighter side of life.

Hear, hear.

Now if only we could do something about the way Schwarzenegger pronounces "California". Actually, it's grown on me. So, nevermind.

Thesis is a philosophical liberal as I do not know this person well enough to determine a complete political ideology. However, the apparent absence of a sence of humor is the strongest indicator of a liberal Democrat.

Had this been serious, Thesis, the wonderful photo of Mrs Obama grasping her head in knowing embarrassment would not have been used.

Her mishap was one that is all too common. The intent here was two fold: to illustrate an amusing story of an innocent stumble of which the offender recovered in a rather endearig fashion, and to educate all of those outside the good state of Nevada how the natives prefer the pronunciation of the state name. This is something that especially liberals and Democrats insist upon. All names MUST be pronounced as the owners desire, sans Americanization.

As to Arnold...the governor is from Austria and his native language is German. His accent is normal and any mispronunciations are to be expected and enjoyed.

Thesis, there are a few words that I would, face-to-face, challenge you to pronounce correctly: Washington, decisive, devisive, February, library, nuclear, Schwartzenegger, Iraq, Iran. Since this is a written forum, that is not possible.

However, from your comment I can make a few corrections: Obama, I, Schwartzenegger, English, and White House are capitalized (they are proper nouns), only one 'that' is needed, 'mispronnouncing' is misspelled, ' .. ' is not an ellipsis.

Thesis, get a sense of humor, learn spelling and punctuation.

P.S. Yes, it was an English lesson, one which you would be wise to heed.
