Petraeus is Propagandist, Smart, and Articulate

Katie Couric, CBS News anchor (providing stability or dragging down the ship?) is in Iraq this week proving her bona fides as a serious journalist. Amy Proctor of Bottom Line Up Front nails the unbiased Katie insinuating Gen. David Petraeus is a cheap propagandist.

KATIE COURIC: ... I was taken to the Allawi market which is near Haifa street which was the scene of that very bloody gun battle back in January and you know this market seemed to be thriving and there were a lot of people out and about. A lot of family owned businesses and vegetable stalls and so you do see signs of life that seem to be normal. Of course that’s what the U.S. military wants me to see so you have to keep that in mind as well.
Katie quickly added balance by saying, "But, I think there're definitely areas where the situation is improving." I feel better now, thank you.

Over at Nation Public Radio, Morning Edition this morning, National Security correspondent Jackie Northam channeled Sen. Joe Biden about 3 minutes into her piece: "General Petraeus is smart and articulate and widely respected." Presumably, Gen. Petraeus is not clean though. These are, of course, very rare qualities in Generals who are, generally speaking, stupid, inarticulate, and bereft of respect. The General Petraeus, like John Edwards, is not Black nor a woman, so, no harm, no foul.
