The only thing we have to fear is cigarette smoking car bombers on Sundays

The two attempted car bombings in London and the airport firebombing in Glasgow are being characterized by liberal leftists as non-events perpetrated by incompetent idiots. Rick Moran of Right Wing Nut House has a different opinion not just of the bombings, but why the left is incapable of reading the tea leaves, connecting the dots, and opening their eyes to reality.

They laughably presuppose that our interest denotes fear. Why would they do that? Is it that their own carefully crafted, dismissive attitude toward attacks and potential attacks of this sort is actually designed to prove some kind of superiority they may feel toward the rest of us as far as having an excess of courage and wisdom ? How pathetic – I mean, truly pathetic this is. It shows an emotional immaturity and childlike desire to be recognized that in any other context would call for serious mental health intervention.
But, have no fear, folks. The British leftist social engineers have taken the bull by the horns and snuffed out the truly critical danger in life. Sunday "smoking in bars, workplaces and public buildings" has been banned nationwide. Included are churches, company cars, and mini-cabs and if anyone can think of someplace that's been left out, please notify the appropriate social engineering office.

Action on Smoking and Health director, Deborah Arnott, said, "Smoking is the single most preventable cause of death... Workers have a right to a safe environment and the harm done by tobacco smoke is now known to be significantly dangerous." (Further reading at Indigo Continuum.)

So, there we have it - tobacco smoke is "significantly dangerous" while blowing people to smithereens, or just attempting to blow people to smithereens, with car bombs VBIEDs (Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device) is merely the act of an incompetent idiot. What we need is not a good 5 cent cigar, but competent terror bombers - that's the real problem, by golly.

The legislative intent is to extend nanny-state protection to the stupid peasants who, doctors estimate, die at a rate of 600 per year from the debatable effects of second hand smoke because they don't care or don't know enough to care. Since first hand smoke doesn't kill nearly enough people every year, second hand smoke was added. Tertiary smoke is next, I guess.

Anyway, that's 600 people killed per year by tobacco smoke, as opposed to the near 3000 dead in one day by VBIEDs on 9/11, the almost 300 Marines killed in Beirut, or the hundreds killed by VBIEDs and ordinary IEDs several times a day in Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention all the other IED deaths around the world every month. And, what the heck, let's throw in the misuse of IUDs and we have a number of dead far larger than first, second, and third hand smoke combined.

The leftist epiphany, the come-to-Jesus-moment for the blind-to-terror-social-engineers will be when a cigarette smoking car bomber driving a mini-cab attacks a pub on a Sunday. God forgive me, but I hope that Sunday is soon.

LOL! The left truly do need straight jackets! Sorry, I have to laugh at them otherwise I would cry. They make no sense whasoever, Indigo. We both know that if they were standing between terrorists and the US Military they would run to our military and beg for help. In the meantime they sit in there safe (for now, but for how long?) ivory towers and act like terrorism is only a hallucination the rest of us are having.

The left is easy to laugh at, Gayle. They are a lot like insurance companies though. Insurance companies say we are probably not going to be in a serious accident. We, of coarse, think we will be in a serious accident. We both hope the insurance company is right.

As nutty as the left is, we all wish they were right, that the whole world could just lay down their guns and turn them into ploughshares, that we could all just get along.

Winston Churchill said that democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the rest. Frank Zappa said that communism can never work because we all want to own stuff. And therein lies the problem and reason we, the people of this good Earth, will never live in peace and harmony.

I do like the left's hallucination so much more than the reality of the past 8,000 years. It's just that it's not real.

From my sister comes this cogent observation:

While Briton is worried about smoking in minivans on Sundays, our headlines read today:
BUSH AND PUTIN MEET TO DISCUSS TIES.

Now tell me, just what does a man's tie have to do with politics?
