When in Rome, Do as the Muslims Do

Italian beaches must, by law, be accessible to the public. That does not mean portions of the public or tourists from foreign lands may claim restricted use of the shores for periods of time. The law means exactly what it says - the shoreline must be accessible to the public at all times.

Some 90 miles east of Florence on the Adriatic coast, the City Council of Riccione is about the cave in to requests from the town's Arab community and Muslim tourists to designate selective beaches for the exclusive use of Muslim women, no infidels allowed.

Attilio Cenni, owner Grand Hotel des Bains, intends opening the first segregated beach in September. The "Muslim Women Only" area would be about 10,000 square feet (1,000 square meters) with an expansion to more beaches next season. Cenni wants to be allowed to completely close-off the entire beach right down to the waterline with covered partitions. Out on the water he wants women lifeguards on water scooters keeping men away. Andrea Cicchetti a spokesman for Riccione's mayor said, "That sounds a little bit like a fantasy."

On the surface this is a small request that "would allow observant Muslim women to shed their headscarves and long robes and enjoy the sun in privacy; religious restrictions otherwise oblige them to cover up if men are present." But, it's also a demand to hand over 10,000 square feet of sovereign Italian soil to a foreign entity for it's exclusive use; yes, it's only a short period of time during the summer, but what happens when more time is demanded? Eventually, the demand of all squatters becomes a right of possession. In many European cities, entire districts are now "no-go" zones for non-Muslims as was demonstrated in the French riots of the recent past. By quietly following local laws, Muslims are acquiring special rights and privileges not enjoyed by the native population.

It isn't just Italy and this isn't the first story on the subject. Daniel Pipes has been recording examples for the last few years:

--- A swimming pool off-limits to men, with an exclusively female staff, and smoked windows. It's not in Saudi Arabia but in France, in the fine town of Lille." More interesting yet, this swimming pool is not a private concern but one of only four sponsored by the Lille municipality - which, by the way, has a woman mayor. "It's a matter of modesty" explains a spokesman for the municipality, noting also that the women-only rules apply only during certain hours. A sign of things to come elsewhere? (June 15, 2003)

--- A half year later, the Lille swimming pool continues to provoke discussion and confusion. Agence France-Presse reports today Jean-Marc Ayrault, parliamentary head of the Socialist party and mayor of Nantes, saying that "the rule is mixing the sexes" in municipal facilities. But while he himself refused to accede to Muslim demands for sex-segregated sessions at the pools, he also refused to condemn the actions of the socialist mayor of Lille, Martine Aubry, for permitting just that. (Dec. 4, 2003)

--- The nearby town of Mons-en-Baroeul has ended the scheduled hours reserved for Muslim women in its municipal pool, in place since 1996, the mayor's spokesman told Agence France-Presse. In fact, this decision was taken in September 2003, a result of the French national debate on "laïcism and the wearing of veils." (Dec. 12, 2003)
Commenting at the above website, trevor_f, Apr 21, 2006, writes:

This news was a recent item from Victoria, Australia (2005)

Women are to be shut out of Shepparton's swimming pool each evening to allow men only to swim in privacy. The ruling will see the women barred from entering the Aquamoves centre during evening swim sessions. The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal granted the Equal Opportunity Act exemption.

Reasons? They cited the needs of Muslims and men with poor body image. "Some religions require that their adherents cannot appear undressed in mixed company, except in front of their immediate family," deputy tribunal president Cate McKenzie said. Apparently, there are more than 5,000 Iraqis in Shepparton's large Muslim community. The pool already runs sessions for "women only".

Just be glad this is the United States of America where this kind of segregation no longer is even suggested. If only that were true. The Seattle Times of Washington state in 2005 tells of Muslim Women Only swim sessions.

It's Saturday evening, the end of a hot day, and a group of women and children have gathered at North Seattle's Meadowbrook Pool for their monthly swim.

Most of the pool staff has left, except for two female lifeguards, who on this day will be on duty for the next two hours.

The women and children — all Muslims — have been swimming in private once a month at Meadowbrook as part of a program organized by the North Seattle Family Center.

Because Islam requires Muslim women to fully cover themselves in public, swimming in pools or the ocean is largely off-limits for many.

But across the Puget Sound area, that's starting to change as public and private pools at times are sending home their male staff members, covering up their windows and allowing women of faith to swim alone and in private.

It's occurring here as it has elsewhere across the country, as the Muslim population increases and families seek more ways to stay active.
Stefan Sharansky of the blog Sound Politics , made some phone calls

and learned that the program, called "Muslim Sister Swim", is treated by the city's Meadowbrook Pool as any other private rental, which would be exempt from the city non-discrimination policy. However, the outfit that organizes and pays for the Muslim Sister Swim is the North Seattle Family Center, a unit of the Children's Home Society, a non-profit that gets most of its money from various government sources. As such, it should strictly comply with non-discrimination guidelines. Nevertheless, the Muslim Sister Swim is open exclusively to Muslims, no infidel women need apply. I asked a representative of the North Seattle Family Center to explain this, and she told me that it was to respect these immigrant women's culture.

But if there's ever a reason for taxpayer dollars to be used to support an immigrant's culture, it should be to support them in learning to shed whatever aspects of their culture are incompatible with American culture. The last thing we need to teach immigrants is to expect publicly-subsidized religious apartheid.

Meanwhile, Americans are worried that the NSA is looking at our phone bills, that terrorist prisoners are not getting enough sleep, and they don't get depressed because they miss their mommies.

ISRAEL - Still Held to Different Standards

The 1960's were a time of social, political, and economic upheaval the world over. The Arab League in 1964, created the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) as the "sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people." Further, their original goal was to destroy Israel by force of arms and establish an independent Palestinian state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

Israel was attacked on three fronts in 1967 by Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt. The victory of Israel in what is now known as The Six Days' War, has been a lasting embarrassment for Arabs and Muslims and an equally lasting thorn in the side of Israel. The Arabs demand the land captured by Israel be returned, and Israel demands attacks from those quarters cease. Neither side trusts the other to keep any promises.

America in 1968 was still fighting another war in far off VietNam. Protesters were marching in the streets of our cities, staging university strikes, blowing-up Army recruiting offices, and blaming all the troubles in the world on the Military-Industrial Complex, and ultimately, the Jews.

Non-Jewish American longshoreman and self-educated social philosopher, Eric Hoffer, wrote books, magazine articles, and newspaper columns. In 1968, Hoffer wrote an editorial that appeared in the Los Angeles Times newspaper. The good people at The Israel Hasbara Committee and Atlas Shrugs, bring us this reminder that no matter how much the world changes, the Jews are always there as the scapegoat of any real or imagined strife and woe.

Israel’s Peculiar Position
ISRAEL - Held to Different Standards

By Eric Hoffer

The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews. Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people and there is no refugee problem. Russia did it, Poland and Czechoslovakia did it, Turkey threw out a million Greeks, and Algeria a million Frenchman. Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese-and no one says a word about refugees.

But in the case of Israel the displaced Arabs have become eternal refugees. Everyone insists that Israel must take back every single Arab.

Arnold Toynbee [
Arnold Joseph Toynbee] calls the displacement of the Arabs an atrocity greater than any committed by the Nazis. Other nations when victorious on the battlefield dictate peace terms. But when Israel is victorious it must sue for peace.

Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world. Other nations when they are defeated survive and recover but should Israel be defeated it would be destroyed. Had Nasser triumphed last June he would have wiped Israel off the map, and no one would have lifted a finger to save the Jews. No commitment to the Jews by any government, including our own, is worth the paper it is written on.

There is a cry of outrage all over the world when people die in Vietnam or when two Negroes are executed in Rhodesia. But when Hitler slaughtered Jews no one remonstrated with him. The Swedes, who are ready to break off diplomatic relations with America because of what we do in Vietnam, did not let out a peep when Hitler was slaughtering Jews.

They sent Hitler choice iron ore, and ball bearings and serviced his troop trains to Norway.

The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives, it will be solely because of Jewish efforts. And Jewish resources.

Yet at this moment Israel is our only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to America and the West in general.

I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish the holocaust will be upon us.

This 38 year old editorial could have been written for tomorrow's Sunday paper, but it's doubtful it would appear in the LA or NY Times.

Iran / Hizb'allah Rocket Deal Admitted

The cat is out of the bag - Iran is supplying rockets to Hizb'allah and has been for a since the Israelis left south Lebanon six years ago.

The Jerusalem Post writes in the Friday August 4, 2006 edition:

Iran admitted for the first time on Friday that it did indeed supply long-range Zelzal-2 missiles to Hizbullah.

Secretary-general of the "Intifada conference" Mohtashami Pur told an Iranian newspaper that Iran transferred the missiles so that they could be used to defend Lebanon, Channel 1 reported.

The extent of Iran's intimate involvement in Hizbullah attacks is starting to emerge.

According to the defense establishment, the reason Hizbullah has not fired long-range Iranian-made Fajr missiles at Israel is due to Teheran's opposition. Israel now understands that without direct orders from the ayatollahs, Hizbullah is not allowed to use Iranian missiles in attacks against Israel.

IDF Soldier's Bodies Desecrated

This War of Israeli Survival did not start with the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers. It started with the murder of eight Israeli soldiers and the kidnapping of two others. The whereabouts of the kidnapped is known only to Hizb'allah. The next day an Israeli tank went to recover the bodies of the eight murdered IDF soldiers. The tank hit an anti-tank mine destroying rhe tank and killing all four crewmen. What has happened to those bodies is typical of the enemy and horrid to Western standards of decency.

Yoni of Yoni the Blogger tells us

Israel was not able to rescue all bodies of the crew, due to heavy fighting and the bodies being trapped in the ruble of the tank.

After Israel was forced out of the area, Hizballah surrounded the tank. Hizballah terrorist then cut off parts from the bodies i.e. arms, legs, heads to hold these body parts to exert pressure on Israel in addition to holding the two soldiers.
Never make the mistake of thinking the enemy faced today are anything above savages. The law and the decency within us forces humane treatment from our civilization, but do not for a moment think any infidel will get decent treatment, dead or alive, from the Islamic foe.

Prophesy or Coincidence?

As most of my regular readers know, I am not one given to Biblical Prophesy. However, with the current unpleasntness in the Holy Land, these Prophesies can be instructive.

An excellent and concise explanation of the Prophesies of Ezekial has been written by 13 FOX at Right Wing Thinker in "Prophecy In Motion, Pt. 2
The 'Who' & What Of Ezekiel 38

To start this out, "prophecy" is defined as foretold history. There are lots of prophecies in the Bible that have come to pass, such as the prophecy in Ezekiel 36:24 that says God will take them (Israelites/Jews) from among the nations, gather hem out of all countries and bring them into their own land. That happened on May 15th, 1948 when Israel became a State and demolished all forces that came against them in their war for independence.

What we look at now, in Ezekiel, is an impending attack on Israel by Gog and its allies. What "Gog and its allies" consists of is Rosh, Persia, Ethiopia and Libya. And people ask...."What is Rosh?" "What is Persia?" And here's the deal. Rosh is Russia and Persia was renamed "Iran" upon the death of Muhammed and the splitting of Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims. Surprising? Russian and Iran?

Not going to kid you, this is not easy stuff. But there are many, many people who live and breath by Biblical Prohesy and it should not be dismissed out off hand. The Mad Mullahs of Iran, with their own prophesies, believe the Twelfth Imam (the Mahdi), Mohammad, and Jesus will return sometime in the next two years (August 22 is a day of particular import.) The Mullahs believe they will be able to hasten Judgement Day by provoking war with Israel and America. The Ezekiel Prophesies dovetail with the those of the "Twelvers". Whether true or not is not the issue, the belief is. Ultraradical Islam will not stop until the events play out and either the prophesies are right or nothing happens because the readers of the prophesies were in error in which case the situation continues or the belief withers and dies.

Take the few minutes to read the full article. While you're there, read some other posts, too. This young soldier can really write.
