Pelosi in Three-Way with Hoyer and Murtha

Hyper-over-confidence deep sixed the Republican Party's chance to retain control of both Houses of Congress. Could it be that Madam Nancy, is already succumbing to the intoxicating sway of over-confidence?

Roll Call says Miss Nancy is speaking as if she is Speaker now.

As Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) pledged Wednesday to rule the House fairly in the 110th Congress as the first-ever female Speaker, a handful of senior Democrats moved aggressively to secure other leadership posts in their nascent majority.
Miss Nancy should know the Speakership is not awarded just because "it's my turn" as we used to say when we were kids. In a free society, one does not "rule"; one administers under the law. The Speaker of the House of Representatives is an elected position. The holder of the covetted position must be elected after hard campaigning amongst the House Members each of whom are the peers of the candidates. In many ways, this is a far more difficult campaign than any other. Congressional peers actually know the people seeking the office and are not as easily conned as We, the people are. As is said - you can't con a con.

Steny Hoyer (D-Md), the current Minority Whip, announced his intention to join the fray last week. He asserted his belief he would win the intra-party ballot November 16. Hoyer said

I think I’m going to win...over a majority...have indicated that they would be supportive of me.
Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) after surprising fellow party Congressmen last June saying he would challenge Hoyer for the Majority Leader position, again affirmed his decision on Wednesday during a National Public Radio interview.

I’m working diligently now trying to convince people that I’d make a good balance.
Murtha then proceeded to misrepresent his position in the House hierarchy, according to the infamous and mysterious Anonymous Source.

There’s Nancy Pelosi, [Appropriations Committee ranking member Rep.] Dave Obey (D-Wis.) and myself, and then Hoyer is listed after me in the power plays.
Anonymous Source admitted he was bewildered and said

In my mind that shows a lack of understanding. I like Mr. Murtha but that’s not just the way it is.
The three way battle royal bloodbath is on. Less than a week after decisively winning control of the House and the Senate, the Democrats have tasted blood and want more even if it's their own.
