Jaquez Mason Dead at 3 Years

Jaquez Mason, 3 years old, is dead because he soiled his diaper. His mother dunked him in scalding hot water as punishment. Jaquez died from complications of second and third degree burns over half of his little body.

He had seven brothers and sisters who were removed from the mother, Valerie Kennedy, 30 yrs, because they were all abused. The grandmother was raising five of the children. The mother was illegally allowed by the grandmother a visit on Christmas Day and Jaquez was tortuered at the mothers apartment.

The grandmother is being charged with murder for allowing the visit and then not reporting the scalding abuse to authorities until after the little boy stopped breathing a week later on New Years Day. He died 30 minutes after being treated by emergency medical personnel.

The mother is being held without bail. She should be shot. The child welfare officer in charge of the case should be shot. The doctors who allowed this woman to have seven children should be shot. The grandmother should be released as she only committed poor judgment and misplaced compassion for her daughter.

Jaquez Mason was only three years old. Look at the face of this little boy. How could anyone harm him? For the love of God, he was only three!

My heart breaks.
As a mother I have been near the "breaking point" many times, but always there was a phone and help on the other end. This woman cannot be called a MOTHER. She will probably use insanity as her reasoning, her council will sell this as the courts will probably not allow her past to be brought into the courtroom, and she'll be given a light sentence and be sent to a hospital until she is "rehabilitated". The Grandmother will probably get the harshest sentence as she had already been found responsible by the juvinile justice system.
The innocent children are the ones who pay the price.

I agree with Indigo Rose, a MOTHER would never harm a hair on her child's head! This is horrific, it sickens me that anyone could do anything like this to a child. What will happen to the remaining children? The cycle will probably continue unless they are sent to families where some major healing and parenting takes place. It is incredibly sad.

I feel like a thorn among the roses.
Thinking about something this sickening is not the best way to start the morning.

It's more than tragic, Don, that these will probably be the only Roses Jaquez will ever get. Far too many children, babies really, have the same short life of barbarism as jaquez and it just goes on. Just this morning the MSM told of another child beaten to death by the mother and step-father in New York.

Indigo, color me hard hearted, but whatever a parent (adult actually) does to intentionally inflict pain upon a child (beyond normal discipline) should be done to them as well even (especially) to the point of death! This is inexcusable. There is NO defense!

I too, have had many hard days as a father. I've got one that will do great things, save lives. One that won't. I thank god for both.

Convict them and give them two months for appeals, do DNA tests, do any tests that are needed and then give them an injection. There are people who can not be rehabilitated.

BTW, most of the time that a person is that uncontrollable, they've gone through the same thing from their parent. My first wife was like that and she thought that was normal conduct. She wasn't a bad person until she wanted love or things weren't going her way, then if you didn't work her over you didn't love her. Fortunately she wasn't a killer, but the reason that was brought up, was to say that the mother shouldn't be set free.

Thanks, Mike. I get really worked-up when children are abused and/or killed by the people who are supposed the protect them.

Like Old Soldier, I'm a whole lot hard hearted. I have no sympathy for child abusers and even less for pedophiles as I will post is a few days.

Has anyone heard an update on this case? What has happened to the mother? The grandmother? I've been searching the internet and cannot find anything.

I'm afraid Anonymous, we will not see an update. You see, in Florida, where this crime took place, the case is all too common. Just a couple of years ago, Florida "lost" hundreds of children under state care.

I really hate to say it, but, Jaquez Mason, his mother, and grangmother are Black. And poor. Had the crime occurred any other time and not Christmas Day ans New Years Day, the story would never have been covered.

However, I will write the editor asking for further developments.

Thank you for your concern. Jaquez deserves more love than he got.

Today is the first day that I have literally shed tears as the result of a new article. To picture the vision of a mother holding her son in scorching hot water is beyond human fathom. People like this are generally beyond rehabilitation. The Grandmother is equally-responsible for remaining silent. The should both do VERY hard time in prison. May they get their just punishments! No mercy!!!
