Iran is Next - By Coup or Attack

NATO and the US have begun plans for a possible attack against Iran says the Jerusalem Post. The German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports similar indications from NATO that they are studying the possibilities and ramifications of such a strike.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime minister of Turkey was asked by CIA Director Porter Goss on Dec 12, 2005 to allow the use of military bases in 2006. The bases presumably would be for the launching of aircraft and air assault troops in an attack of Iran. Without offering a concrete time frame for an assault, the neighboring countries of Arabia, Jordan, Oman, and Pakistan have been briefed on the possibility of an air assault operation, claims the German DDP news agency.

The on-line Der Spiegel refers to a January 2005 article in the New Yorker that American Special Operations Forces entered Iran in 2005 to identify and mark possible targets. As was posted here at FAIR, Dec. 11, 2005, the Israelis have also established signals intelligence gathering stations in northern Iraq aimed at identifying Iranian nuclear sites and providing targeting data during an attack.

The ultra-pious Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, appears to Western analysts and Iranian moderates to be hellbent on an open confrontation with the West. Talking tough and demanding Israels destruction or removal of Israel to Europe has not endeared Ahmadinejad to Western nations, not least of which are the states of Old Europe. To die a martyr's death against the infidel forces, thus gaining the ultimate closeness with Allah would be a dream come true for Ahmadinejad.

Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the former President and current opponent of Ahmadinejad, has been attempting in recent weeks to humiliate the President. Trying to ameliorate worldwide condemnation, Rafsanjani last week announced, "We have no problem with the Jews." Living in Iran, mostly undisturbed, are more than 30,000 Iranian Jews. They attend synagogues, have parliamentary representation, and live in fear of the state as does any Iranian.

After so many years of loosening the Khomeini era restrictions, there is a generation of young Iranians who are very opposed to the reinstatement of strict Sharia law by the current ruling council and wish to return to the reforms of Khameini and Rafsanjani. The news out of Iran has been of sporadic street demonstrations, arrests of protesting students, and the imprisonment of Iranian bloggers. The poor response to the recent series of earthquakes in Iran has not garnered points for Tehran either.

There are rumors in Tehran, reports Der Spiegel, that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may not have many days left in office. Iran's political elite would rather not see a Western attack, nor do they wish to see Iran become more of an international pariah than it is already. There may be pragmatic forces preparing for a coup to take place before the Israeli March 28, 2006 deadline for the nuclear facilities bombing to commence, or the possible Western invasion. Either way, time is running short for Iran.

Woman Marries Dolphin - "I am not a pervert!"

Back in November, in the post, What is Wrong with Us?, I brought up the question of bestiality (human/non-human sexual relations) wondering and warning where we were about to go as a society and civilization. Well, folks, welcome the the brave new world.

A British woman married a dolphin in Israel. The 41 year old woman, after marrying the 35 year old dolphin, said, "I'm the happiest girl on earth ... and I am not a pervert," she stressed. By stressing the point, the woman must know that her act is perverted in the eyes of sane humans, but the fact that the wedding was allowed at all, never mind in Israel, is a strong indicator this will be accepted and only a few mild jokes will ensue. What is wrong with us, Part II?

Muhammad Daoud Really Wanted to Direct

Across the blogosphere, much has been made of the criticism Muhammad Daoud has leveled against Steven Spielberg and his new film Munich that Spielberg called his "prayer for peace". From Damascus, Daoud said, "If he really wanted to make it a prayer for peace he should have listened to both sides of the story and reflected reality, rather than serving the Zionist side alone." I didn't see Daoud considering both sides of the story in 1972 as I watched the attack unfold.

Muhammad Daoud, the Black September terror mastermind of the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, showing himself for the shameless, bloodthirsty pig that he is, said, "We did not target Israeli civilians ... Some of them (the athletes) had taken part in wars and killed many Palestinians. Whether a pianist or an athlete, any Israeli is a soldier."

Of course, he neglects to add that the athletes, when fighting, were soldiers wearing uniforms and acting according to the rules set down in the Geneva Conventions, but hey, technicalities - Palestinians and Muslims don't need no stinking rules to fight and kill; it's what they do. They can wear any clothing they want (the co-ordinated sweatsuits are sooooooo 1980s!), shoot anyone (men, women, children, elderly, babies), then run away to hide among the other "civilians".

"Spielberg showed the movie to widows of the Israeli victims, but he neglected the families of Palestinian victims," Daoud whined.

But, none of this was of any real importance to Muhammad Daoud. Yes, he was probably very angry as a practicing terrorist, and, yes, he probably was pretty well ticked off that Spielberg didn't have a special sneak preview for terrorists and their families. Nope, that's not what really got Daoud pissed off, though. So what did it for Daoud - what got his dander up? He was outraged "at not being consulted for the thriller."

FISA Nixed Moussaoui Warrant

The FISA secret court denied a warrant on Moussaoui, the reputed 9/11 twentieth bomber. The Star Chamber went so far as to "discipline" Michael Resnick, F.B.I. supervisor of terrorist surveillance operations coordination.

In a January 2002 letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller, [Sen. Charles] Grassley noted that had a search been permitted, "Agents would have found information in Moussaoui’s belongings that linked him both to a major financier of the [9/11] hijacking plot working out of Germany, and to a Malaysian Al Qaeda boss who had met with at least two other [9/11] hijackers while under surveillance by intelligence officials."
No wonder the President didn't want to get warrants through FISA. If a governmental agency is going to willfully place the country in jeopardy then, rightly so, they should be bypassed. It would be a good idea if all the folks working in the US government were actually on our side.

New Hazard for Illegal Aliens

I'm a little ambivalent about this. Human smuggling gangs are kidnapping illegal border crossers and holding them for ransom. They threaten to deposit the illegal aliens/kidnap victims in the desert to die. This is especially dangerous at Christmas time when many children are illegally trafficked over the border for family reunions here in Mexico del Norte, Baja Canada, the land formerly known as the United States of America.

Obviously, kidnapping and murder are wrong, but if this causes anyone to abandon any thoughts of crossing into the US illegally, well...

By the Fruits of Their Labors

In Bristol, England the lawsuit brought by Imran Khan against his employer ended yesterday. The wrath of Khan was sparked when his employer offered bottles of wine as a sales incentive to the sales staff. As a Muslim, Mr. Khan is forbidden the imbibing of alcohol and he experienced "hurt feelings" for which he sued. Another Muslim employee exchanged his wine incentive prize for gift vouchers. Mr. Khan lost his case.

Well, it's about freakin' time the Brits or anyone stood up and said enough of this hurt feelings crap! Their your feelings - deal with it all you Mr. and Ms. Khans of the world.

Meanwhile, back at the farm...

After getting the world to push the Jews out of the Gaza Strip last August, Palestinians took over the operation of massive greenhouses the Jewish community had built. The Gush Katif gardens provided 75% of Israel's insect-free produce and had enough to export $100 million worth of vegies to Europe each year.

Since the Palestinians took charge, the gardens have foundered and failed. The new Palestinian owners are now asking the Jewish farmers to return as consultants to help them operate the stolen facilities. One former Gush Katif farmer when asked if she would return said, "Probably not. We see the terror coming out of Gaza, coming out of the neighborhood I used to live in, and it's just horrible. Hamas has taken over different parts of Gush Katif and are firing rockets into Israel. I am not saying the Palestinian farmers are involved, but it seems they are not doing enough to stop the terror."

While the Hebrews lived in the Lavant, Israel blossomed so that it was the "land of milk and honey." For millennia after the Hebrews were kicked out of Israel by various non-Jewish people, Israel returned to the barren wasteland it was before the Hebrews arrived. The Jews of the Diaspora returned to The Promised Land in 1946 quickly making the land bloom again. Jealous Arabs seized the land and again have no clue how to use it. Now they want those very same Jews from whom the greenhouses were stolen to come back to tell them how to grow carrots and squash! Give peas a chance - HA!

Germany Releases Stethem Killer

Germany secretly released a Hezbollah killer of a US military diver. The killer was serving a LIFE SENTENCE! (Remember that because it's important.) According to the Reuters report in Haaretz Daily, Germany released the convicted killer to Lebanon despite an extradition request from the US.

Navy diver Robert Dean Stethem was executed by Muhammad ali Hammadi in the 1985 hijacking of TWA flight 847 to Beirut. You'll remember the terrorist waving his gun out the pilots window while threatening to blow up the plane. When passports were demanded by the terrorists, Stethem was ID'd as an American serviceman, beaten, shot, and his body dumped out the rear door onto the tarmac where his lifeless body remained for two hours before retrieval was allowed.

Hammadi was sentenced to LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE. Germany returned the murderer to Beirut last Tuesday, December 13, because said the German government spokesman - get this - "He has served his sentence." How does one serve a court sentenced LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE without serving for life - until one is dead in prison? What part of LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE do the Germans not understand?

Germans have to get over the guilt trip they've been on for the passed 60 years. Just because the Volk were responsible for the mass murder of 5-6 million people during the Hitler era does not mean they must abandon all sensibilities in the opposite direction. The US has the death penalty to which Hammadi would certainly be eligible, but would not ipso facto receive. Germany revoked capital punishment after WWII judging the German people incapable of knowing when to stop killing once they have begun.

This is stupid and dangerous. The good volk have shown themselves to be righteous and honorable people not likely to willy-nilly go about murdering millions again. During the Third Reich, while murder was still a crime, the German nation murdered with legal impugnity making the punishment for homicide meaningless. Today, Germany has rendered LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE meaningless. Germany lost the sense of decency 60 years ago and has yet to get it back.

The US has pledged to hunt down the killer, Hammadi, and bring him to justice - REAL JUSTICE.

John Lennon: Not Just a Magical Mystery Tourist, He's an Action Figure

It was 7 days ago today, Sgt. Pepper reminded us how to play. She should never have gotten her say in the band, but she did. Now she won't go away.

Yoko Ono has gone to the John Lennon money well again.

And now, on our very own stage...ladies and gentlemen....the JOHN LENNON ACTION FIGURE!

Imagine! Well, no need for that anymore. "[An] 18" Action Figure w/motion activated sound. Coming in Spring 2006, this is the first officially licensed John Lennon Figure ever. He will "speak" authentic John Lennon phrases and is known as "The New York Years" John Lennon," says the maker NECA (click on Little John to see Big John.)

All profits will go to Yoko. SURPRISE!

All I am saying is, thank God, it's not Fat John. Imagine whirled peas. Give peas a chance.

From Tyranny to Democracy: Iraqis Win Again

"We've got nation building by the U.S. military, and that's not a mission for the U.S. military. I've said this over and over again: They're not good at nation building. You've given them a mission which they cannot carry out. They do the best they can, but they can't do it." - Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania

In the the final act of the drama the world has watched unfold before our eyes, Iraqis went to the polls. This simple action was in direct defiance to al-Qaida, the terrorists, naysayers, and many in the Democrat Party who see this vote as a major loss for their side.

Iraqi families cast their ballots at a polling station December 15.

Son of Tookie

Tonight we have a guest writer. I have five sisters and one, the 7th child, is a regular reader of FAIR, and I shall call her Indigo Rose.

Indigo Rose has two daughters who have in this time of great crisis and danger volunteered to serve their country. The older enlisted in the US Army and the younger joined the US Air Force. Though giving it their all, the sisters have both been discharged for health reasons. I am very proud and humbled by their selfless intent. My sister has been married for many, many years to, get this, the same man. Her husband served in the US Navy aboard an aircraft carrier as a deck crewman running to and fro generally trying to get out of the way of all those planes landing and taking off - YIKES! He has made a career in the California Correctional system vigilantly and successfully keeping the bad guys behind bars.

That is the story, in brief, of Indigo Rose. Herewith is an e-mail I received tonight. (Any similarity between my writing and hers is purely genetic.)

I enjoyed your blog regarding "Tookie" Williams execution. It was well-written and filled with the history of a man who loved to hate.

As so many are crying 'foul' because of Williams children's books, decrying the gangs he started, his own son is sitting in High Desert State Prison. A child raised to kill and fight his way to the top, is sitting at our expense, waiting for Crips to line up to be his cell-mate. He is the "son of Tookie" and has inherited the fear and honor among thieves and criminals.

It really didn't matter that Tookie was imprisoned, it was the feeling of many corrections officers that he was still in charge of the Crips, running the gang from inside, just as the Mexican Mafia has been run by a leader incarcerated at Pelican Bay.

I do think the execution was necessary to put a last chapter to his books. Wasn't this the lesson to be learned? If you live the life of a gangbanger, taking the lives of those around you for any reason, or no reason, you will die the life of a gangbanger.

The choice: a bullet or a needle.

I got on the California State website looking at the last dozen executions before Tookie. Of the 12 : 1 was black, 1 was "other" (Thai), 10 were white.

How many times did the ACLU, Denzell Washington, Rev. Jesse Jackson, or Bianca Jagger come forward to spare these "poor men"?

Death Comes for Tookie Williams

In a few short hours, Stanley "Tookie" Williams will be put to death at San Quentin Prison in San Francisco, California.

A needle will be inserted into his arm, 5 grams of sodium pentothal will flow into his blood causing unconsciousness, followed by 50 cc of pancuronium bromide to paralyze the diaphragm muscles stopping his breathing. Finally, 50 cc of potassium chloride will slow, then stop the heart. Within 5 minutes the brain and brainstem will experience irreversible damage from oxygen deprivation. From beginning to end, 20 minutes will have passed. A pointless, violent criminal life will have been put to death, a minor footnote ended.

The crimes for which he will be put to death are horrid and are deserving of the death penalty. Today at work, when I received the breaking news by e-mail from ABCNews, I felt satisfaction that Governor Schwartzenegger had declined the granting of leniency, declined sparing the life of this particular criminal. I was satisfied and jubilant that Justice had prevailed.

By converting the Crips gang from a pitiable group of neighborhood thugs to the most violent crime organization the LA area has known and then franchising his murderous creation throughout the US, Williams is responsible for thousands of murders, robberies, and broken lives. Tookie Williams forfeited his life many years ago. Only now is that society upon which he vented his rage and exercised his greed exacting its just punishment.

But, I will not celebrate, nor cheer the death of Tookie Williams. I cannot deny Stanley was a remarkable person with talents and abilities that he was unable or unwilling to channel towards the betterment of his community. I will not wax rhapsodic on what might have been, the life that might have been led because Tookie Williams freely chose, rather, to bring great pain and destruction.

In the years since he took control of the Crips in the early 1980s, Los Angeles has suffered over 3000 gang related murders. The murder rate has increased some 30%; the gang killings in his hometown of Compton has set a new record nearly every year for the past twenty-plus years. The death toll from these thugs is 50 times greater than that exacted by the Mafia in its entire history of organized crime in the United States. Tookie Williams wanted to form the most feared gang known and he succeeded with great cost to the community. Such a waste.

For all of these killings, Tookie Williams is responsible. No, he did not personally pull the trigger on all the dead, but he set in motion the conditions that allowed them to happen. Even now, just hours from his own execution, he refuses to bring any comfort to the mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers of those slain by telling authorities what he knows of so many deaths. He would rather die a coward than be a "snitch".

Little more than an hour ago, a fifteen year old boy was gunned down while riding in a car in an area of LA known as Koreatown. A car pulled alongside his and the occupants fired a fusillade of bullets into the car and the teen. Another boy is dead tonight because of the mayhem wrought by Tookie Williams. Another Mother's son is dead from the senseless, stupid gang violence. Even from behind bars and sitting in a cell on deathrow awaiting his own death, the legacy of Tookie Williams has destroyed another life, destroyed another family.

Killing Tookie Williams will not bring back the boy killed tonight nor the thousands of boys killed over the years, but one less gangbanger will be gone and this time, before morning when I awaken to enjoy another day of life, Justice will have been served.

Supersecret Israeli Attack on Iraq Scheduled for March 28

Israel will attack Iranian nuclear installations March 28, 2006. This according to The Sunday Times December 11, 2005. Military sources have revealed that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has placed the necessary forces on code "G", the highest level of readiness. Mohamed El-Baradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Nobel Peace Prize winner, warned Iran the world was "losing patience" (UN fighting words) with Iranian stalling.

Israel has, in 2005, been building a large intelligence gathering capability in the region for just this type of eventuality. Israel has established a Signal Operations and Cross-border base in northern Iraq and have potentially mapped many nuclear enrichment sites previously unknown to the IAEA and the rest of the world. Establishing multiple sites was the lesson learned from the Osirak strike by Israel against Iraq in 1981. An Israeli source said of the possible future strike at Iran, "If we opt for the military strike, it must be not less than 100% successful."

The Likud party leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, has said that if Sharon does not act against Iran, then he (Bebe) will form a new government and carry out the plan. Israel has scheduled elections in March and intelligence sources say March is the "point of no return" for Iran. After March, it is believed, Iran will be nuclear capable within four years.

The call went out to "wipe Israel off the map" from Tehran recently. Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, has been in talks with Islamic terrorist groups, most recently on November 15, 2005 in Damascus. The leaders of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah were in attendance.

The minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, met with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, Ahmed Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and an Islamic Jihad deputy leader. Islamic Jihad has claimed as their own handiwork the Netanya shopping mall suicide bombing last Monday killing five innocent Israelis. Said Jibril, "We all confirmed that what is going on in occupied Palestine is organically connected to what is going on in Iraq, Syria, Iran and Lebanon."

We are living in scary times folks. Like so often in the past, the enemy is, in their arrogance, telling us exactly what they are going to do. Unlike so often in the past, many on the other side (US, UK, Israel, Australia, etc., and bloggers) are actually listening, reading, and speaking out very loudly. Many are actually preparing for the coming wars despite the rantings of the appeasers and collaborators, Benedict Arnolds, Quislings, and various Vichy French type persons (Jacques Chirac.)

What occurs in the next six to eight months may very well set the tone for the rest of the 21st Century. In the words on President Andrew Jackson, "You're either with us, or you're against us." It's time to choose up sides and neutrlity is not an option.

John Murtha Wrote Me a Letter

I received this e-mail from Rep. John Murtha today. The bolding is in the original. I have left out the link to a petition he is asking folks to sign as I'm not obligated to do the bidding of the DCCC.

"The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) thought you would be interested in this important message from Representative John Murtha.

Dear [Indigo Red],

America wants and deserves real answers on Iraq: What is the clear definition of success? Is there a plan? How much longer and how many more lives? In short, what is the end game?

Because we in Congress are charged with overseeing the safety of our sons and daughters when the president sends them into battle, it is our responsibility, our obligation to speak out for them. This obligation has not been met. That's why I am speaking out now.

I offered a concrete plan to get our troops out of harm's way, where they have become the target. I don't expect every member of Congress to agree with my specific proposal in this debate - but I do expect them to take part in that debate, not to squash it.

I am asking you to join me in demanding a real discussion of the war in Iraq from the U.S. House of Representatives.

For too long Congress has counted itself out of any real debate on Iraq policy. We didn't talk about troop levels, even after the White House fired General Shinseki because he complained the levels were too low. One problem we encountered was the lack of proper training for our troops; service members were placed to guard the prisons but weren't trained; consequently we had Abu Ghraib, and no action from Congress. And if you look at the casualties, they have doubled since then. It's time to change our course - we can't just sit back any longer.

I've taken a lot of trips to Iraq. When I came back from my last one, I had become convinced we were making no progress at all. This can't be Republican and Democrat. It can't be recrimination one way or the other. We have to work this thing out, and we can't let a real solution get caught in the crossfire of an understandably heated political fight.

It's time for a serious conversation, not more rhetoric.

The past few weeks have had a lot of firsts for me. I have never sought out the spotlight, or even taken the lead in a House floor debate the way I did a few weeks ago. And I've never signed an email like this before. But I see the beginning of a debate that is long overdue, and we can't afford to let it get overtaken by talking points or the news cycle.

I'm offering this petition, which will be delivered to Speaker of the House in order to keep our Congress focused where it should have been all along. I hope you'll sign if you agree.

John Murtha
Pennsylvania's 12th District"

The good Congressman hasn't been listening. Success is when there is a stable, self-supporting government in Iraq. That government will be chosen in the elections of December 2005. The Iraqi military will be ready to take command of the field sometime in the next 1 - 1 1/2 years with minimal support from the US.

The number of lives lost or broken is totally at the discretion of the bad guys. If they stop shooting and bombing then we have nothing to shoot at and defend from. Congreesman, talk to your buds in the insurgency an Al-Qaida and get them to stop the hostilities.

The end game (it's not a game, Congressman) has been spelled out many times. Now listen up - when Iraq can stand on her own, the US will stand down. That's not a hard concept, Congressman.

Muslims Rally in London Calling for Destruction of the West

"This Shameful Ranting Must Stop" by Carol Gould details a rally held in London several days ago called the Global Peace and Unity Conference at London's Excel Centre. "It was advertised as a diverse event to which non-Muslims were invited and the impression one got from the website was of a celebration of Middle Eastern culture, food, music and children's activities in a London milieu." Seems it was anything but. "To my utter horror ... it was a seven-hour call to Jihad by a succession of ranting and shouting rabble-rousers." Read it.

Cuanas has a very good post, New Nuremburg Rally in London, hearkening back to Nazi Germany and the relationship between the Nazi Party and Islam. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini assisted the Nazis in any way he could in the extermination of the Jews during WWII. Much of the philosophy of the Islamofascists today stems from that relationship. Husseini did have one complaint - Hitler wasn't wasn't killing Jews fast enough.

Thousands of Muslims joined and fought along side Third Reich troops. Muslim troops are seen here at prayer in 1944. Today's Hezbollah terror troopers display the Nazi salute at a recent rally in the Gaza Strip.

Pamela at Atlas Shrugs humorously illustrates that Howard Dean and the Democratic Liberal Left UberElites may be aiding the Islamofascists with their recalcitrance and arrogant stance against an American victory anywhere. "The idea that we're going to win this war is an idea that unfortunately is just plain wrong," Dean told San Antonio, Texas, radio station WOAI on Monday.

The Black Book of Saddam Hussein

If it wasn't for the good people of France, one would think nothing sane ever came out of France. Recently published in France is a scholarly 700 page tome cataloguing the crimes of Saddam Hussein. Le Livre Noir de Saddam Hussein (The Black Book of Saddam Hussein) is a scathing expose of the 30 years of murders, rapes, kidnappings, wars, gassings, and many other assorted horrors perpetrated against the Iraqi people. In an article in The Australian, The Big Black Book of Horrors December 03, 2005, Rebecca Weisser writes that the authors - "Arabs, Americans, Germans, French and Iranian - have produced the most comprehensive work to date on the former Iraqi president's war crimes, assembling a mass of evidence that makes the anti-intervention arguments redundant."

"The first weapon of mass destruction was Saddam Hussein," writes Bernard Kouchner, who has been observing atrocities in Iraq since he led the first Medecins Sans Frontieres mission there in 1974. "Preserving the memory of the arbitrary arrests that Saddam's police conducted every morning, the horrible and humiliating torture, the organised rapes, the arbitrary executions and the prisons full of innocent people is not just a duty. Without that one cannot understand either what Saddam's dictatorship was or the urgent necessity to remove him."

"Sinje Caren Stoyke, German archeologist and president of Archeologists for Human Rights, catalogues 288 mass graves [and] estimates one million people are missing in Iraq, presumed dead, leaving families with the dreadful task of finding and identifying the remains of their loved ones. Military convoys crossed towns, full of civilian prisoners, and returned empty. People living near execution sites heard the cries of men, women and children. They heard shots followed by silence."

"Abdullah Mohammed Hussein was a soldier fighting in the mountains when Iraqi troops took the Kurdish village of Sedar and deported three-quarters of the inhabitants, including his mother, his wife and their seven children. They were taken to a concentration camp at Topzawa and from there some were taken to an execution ground near the archeological site of Hatra, south of Mosul. The remains of 192 people have been found, 123 women and children and 69 men, among them Abdullah's wife and three of their children. There is no trace of his mother and the other four children. They were victims of the genocidal Anfal campaign, which sought to exterminate the Kurds."

"Between February and September 1988, 100,000 to 180,000 Kurds died or disappeared. The bombing of the Kurdish village of Halabja with chemical weapons including mustard gas, tabun, sarin and VX on March 16, 1988, which killed 3000 to 5000 civilians, was the most publicised of these atrocities because it occurred near the Iranian border and Iranian troops were able to penetrate with the assistance of Kurds, filming and photographing the victims."

"...the security services arrested and imprisoned people without charging them, with no access to a lawyer or contact with their family. Everyone was targeted, including women and children. Torture was systematically used to secure confessions including beating, burning, ripping out finger nails, rape, electric shocks, acid baths and deprivation of sleep, food or water."

"...Le Livre Noir de Saddam Hussein charts the sorry history of France's slavish support for Saddam, from Right and Left, for 30 years, a relationship that was fundamentally based on the trade of Iraqi oil for French missiles, fighter jets and nuclear technology."
The Black Book of Saddam Hussein also details the economic, military, and personal support from the French establishment elite, particularly Jacques Chirac. It was a relationship that spanned decades and involved Iraqi oil exchanged for Mirage jets, French missiles, and nuclear technology. The authors do not ignore the immense risks and difficulties inherent in overthrowing a repressive tyranny with a 35 year history of brutal and total control.
"There was no democratic solution to Saddam's dictatorship: no popular movement, no insurrection could have overthrown him...The American war was perhaps not a good solution for getting rid of the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein. But, as this book shows, after 35 years of a dictatorship of exceptional violence, which has destroyed Iraqi civil society and created millions of victims, there wasn't a good solution."

Europe Died in Auschwitz - A Translation

Recently while catching up on my blog reading, I stopped in at SEARCH. Often one finds interesting stuff in the comments and I wasn't disappointed this time. My friend, Leap Frog, a fabulous Canadian lady, left a note to see Free Republic for an article making the blog and e-mail rounds. It's entitled "Europe got Muslims for Jews." It's a translation of an article from a Spanish newspaper. "The truth must be told! All European life died in Auschwitz" by Sebastian Vilar Rodriguez.

As interesting as I and others found the article, I was skeptical as to it's provenance. I wasn't so sure that a Spaniard would have such a clear eyed view of the "Muslim Question" after the explosive events in Madrid, the over-turning of the Spanish government, and finally the withdrawal of the brave Spanish troops from Iraq. So I went Googling. This is what I found and I reproduce the article here attempting to maintain the integrity of the original page design from Gentiuno:

(There are many translations of this article, but none seemed right, so I have translated the Spanish myself. I neither read nor understand Spanish, but I think I've come closer to the authors intent than the other, more literal translations available. I welcome any corrections--Indy)

Europe Died in Auschwitz

I walked down the Boulevard of the Raval in Barcelona and I clearly understood the Spanish proverb: "The truth marries with nobody." We assassinated upwards of 6 million Jews only to end up importing 20 million, in general, unified Muslims.

Isn’t it impossible to generalize? Well, in view of the things that have happened to us since [the Madrid bombings] I believe that, yes, it is possible to generalize. What if there are exceptions? I agree there are exceptions, but they are exceptions.

For the rest, in general, it must be said that in Auschwitz we burned the culture, intelligence, and the capacity to create wealth; we burned the people of the world, those proclaiming themselves the chosen people of God, because they had provided to Humanity the greater minds that were able to change the course of history, (Christ, Marx, Einstein, Freud), and great moments of progress and well-being.

And, it is also fair to say that the result of relaxing the borders, the cultural relativism, and the values under the absurd pretext of tolerance has been that Europe has allowed 20 million Muslims, illiterate and often fanatical, to immigrate. In one of the greatest expressions of being taken for granted, as it is said on the Boulevard of the Raval, the poverty of the third world and the ghetto have been brought here, and in the worst case, to prepare attacks like those of Manhattan and Madrid under the official protection that we provide them daily.

We have exchanged culture for fanaticism; wealth creation for voluntary destruction: intelligence for superstition.

The instinct of beating the Jews, who, neither in the worst conditions imaginable, have themselves tired – never – of wanting a better, peaceful world, we have exchanged for the suicidal impulse. We have exchanged the portable wealth of diamonds for the Palestinian stones to be used against any intent of peace.

We have exchanged the pride to survive for the fanatics obsessional pursuit of death for themselves, for us, and for our children.

What a mistake we have made!

ACLU Action Kit

WooHoo! It's finally here! My ACLU Action Kit has arrived! (Batteries not included.)

I am a bit disappointed, though. I didn't get an ACLU Action Figure - a Birkenstock wearing, middle-aged lawyer with faux leather briefcase inside of which is an organic tomato and sprout sandwich wrapped in recycled waxpaper, balding with long salt and pepper hair tied in a ponytail, blue jeans, colorfully bizarre shirt, and Camel colored corduroy jacket. And, of course, the mandatory earring. He's a lot like Larry Finkelstein (Alan Rachens) on "Dharma and Greg".

Anyway, back to the ACLU Action Kit. The letter says, ah, let's see...Bush Administration, evil...Patriot Act, evil...Ten Commandments and Pledge of Allegiance, evil...ok, here we are, "But, here's what we need to remember: In America, there are bedrock values that can never be compromised. Privacy rights, free speech, religious liberty, fairness, equality, the rule of law...such principles define our country. Those who would take away our freedoms are far out of the mainstream. They are dangerous. And they must be vigorously opposed."

Wow, it's like they're looking in a mirror, but they don't recognize themselves. One item was enclosed with which I do agree - a decal that reads:

Y'all might have noticed the "Merry Christmas, ACLU" card to the left. It is part of the Stop the ACLU blog to hinder if not literally stop the ACLU from stealing Christmas this year. It's called OPERATION NATIVITY and is free to all. Link on over and pick-up the pic of your choice. The folks at Stop the ACLU are dedicated to exposing the activities of the ACLU and their Communist minions. Give them all the support you can.

MoveOn's Little PhotoShop of Horrors originally used this photo in a TV ad. It was insinuated that these British soldiers were Americans held in Iraq during Thanksgiving by Bush's "illegal war."
When it became evident to MoveOn that their ruse was not going to fly because of the sharp eyes of bloggers like Kevin Aylward at wizbang, they Shopped the photo redressing the soldiers in US cammies. Note the guy in the original wearing shorts is dressed in long pants in the fake. The pants are the same pants as the guy to his right in line.

Dollars to donuts MoveOn will claim the 'shorts' photo is faked by conservative conspirators to discredit the truth and anyone brave enough to oppose the Bush administration.

National Strategy for Victory in Iraq

"The United States has no intention of determining the precise form of IraqÂ’s new government. That choice belongs to the Iraqi people. Yet, we will ensure that one brutal dictator is not replaced by another. All Iraqis must have a voice in the new government, and all citizens must have their rights protected.

Rebuilding Iraq will require a sustained commitment from many nations, including our own: we will remain in Iraq as long as necessary, and not a day more."
-- President George W. Bush, February 26, 2003

As I write this , President Bush is delivering a speech at the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He is promising we will no back down, we will not give up, we will not surrender.

Here, in PDF, you can read the entire plan National Strategy for Victory in Iraq. Excerpted:

"Victory in Iraq is Defined in Stages

Short term, Iraq is making steady progress in fighting terrorists, meeting political milestones, building democratic institutions, and standing up security forces.

Medium term, Iraq is in the lead defeating terrorists and providing its own security, with a fully constitutional government in place, and on its way to achieving its economic potential.

Longer term, Iraq is peaceful, united, stable, and secure, well integrated into the international community, and a full partner in the global war on terrorism.

Failure is Not an Option

Iraq would become a safe haven from which terrorists could plan attacks against America , American interests abroad, and our allies.
Middle East reformers would never again fully trust American assurances of support for democracy and human rights in the region – a historic opportunity lost.
The resultant tribal and sectarian chaos would have major consequences for American security and interests in the region.

Our Strategy for Victory is Clear

We will help the Iraqi people build a new Iraq with a constitutional, representative government that respects civil rights and has security forces sufficient to maintain domestic order and keep Iraq from becoming a safe haven for terrorists. To achieve this end, we are pursuing an integrated strategy along three broad tracks , which together incorporate the efforts of the Iraqi government, the Coalition, cooperative countries in the region, the international community, and the United Nations.

The Political Track involves working to forge a broadly supported national compact for democratic governance by helping the Iraqi government:

Isolate enemy elements from those who can be won over to the political process by countering false propaganda and demonstrating to all Iraqis that they have a stake in a democratic Iraq ;

Engage those outside the political process and invite in those willing to turn away from violence through ever-expanding avenues of participation; and

Build stable, pluralistic, and effective national institutions that can protect the interests of all Iraqis, and facilitate Iraq 's full integration into the international community.

The Security Track involves carrying out a campaign to defeat the terrorists and neutralize the insurgency, developing Iraqi security forces, and helping the Iraqi government:

Clear areas of enemy control by remaining on the offensive, killing and capturing enemy fighters and denying them safe-haven;

Hold areas freed from enemy influence by ensuring that they remain under the control of the Iraqi government with an adequate Iraqi security force presence; and

Build Iraqi Security Forces and the capacity of local institutions to deliver services, advance the rule of law, and nurture civil society.

The Economic Track involves setting the foundation for a sound and self-sustaining economy by helping the Iraqi government:

Restore Iraq 's infrastructure to meet increasing demand and the needs of a growing economy;

Reform Iraq 's economy, which in the past has been shaped by war, dictatorship, and sanctions, so that it can be self-sustaining in the future; and

Build the capacity of Iraqi institutions to maintain infrastructure, rejoin the international economic community, and improve the general welfare of all Iraqis."

Progress is being made and more progress will follow, but it will take time. And, yes, American blood. But, also, American sweat and skills and compassion and attitude and desire to see that freedom is sown throughout the country and region. Iraqis are joining in growing numbers with a can-do spirit inherent in all freedom loving people. Iraq, America, Britain, and all the members of the Coalition are delivering freedom and liberty where a few years ago there was none.

Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - Yanks&Brits, They All Look Alike

Decrying the fact that thousands of American soldiers would not be home for the Thanksgiving holiday, put out a TV video. The TV spot showed soldiers standing in a chow line receiving the daily military fare rather than the turkey dinner with all the trimmings that was provided most of the American soldiers, if not all.

The problem with the video is that these are not American soldiers. They are British. How can anyone take seriously when they don't know what an American soldier looks like? What a bunch of maroons!

P.S. A great big THANK YOU goes out to our British friends. Your stalwart spirit has once agian shown through the blood, sweat, and tears of the cruelties of war to show there is a better way. Freedom is that better way.

(Hat tip to dcat for the oversight.)

Intergalactic War Bush's Fault, Claims Canadian

Paul Hellyer, former Canadian Minister of Defense from 1963-67 under Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prime Minister Lester Pearson and Deputy Prime Minister under Pierre Trudeau has said in public, "UFOs, are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head." Promoting the Canadian Exopolitics Initiative (relations with ETs --extraterrestrials, presumably intelligent beings from beyond Earth), Hellyer and three non-governmental organizations claim ethical, advanced extraterrestrial civilizations may now be visiting Earth.

Alfred Lambremont Webre, a graduate of Yale Law School, the founding father of exopolitics, a futurist at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) claims, "because their physical appearance is so similar to humans on Earth, some Martians have already migrated to villages in South America...Humans from Mars seem to be genetically related to humans on Earth."

In a speech at the University of Toronto, September 25, 2005, Hellyer told the audience, "The United States military are preparing weapons which could be used against the aliens, and they could get us into an intergalactic war without us ever having any warning." He stated, "The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide." Further Hellyer said, "I'm so concerned about what the consequences might be of starting an intergalactic war, that I just think I had to say something." Hellyer's remarks were met with a standing ovation from the august body.

The International Director of the Institute for Cooperation in Space (ICIS) based in Vancouver, B.C., who also led a 1977 White House Extraterrestrial Communication Study for former President Jimmy Carter has requested the Canadian Parliament to schedule formal hearings in the matter. It should be recalled that Jimmy Carter reported a UFO close encounter of the first kind in 1969. While serving as President, the fishing Carter was attacked by a killer rabbit.

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, in a speech to the UN general Assembly, Sep22, 2004, claimed, "Space is our final frontier." He was referring to
Captain James T. Kirk (played by a Canadian) of the Starship Enterprise and her crew, who, on a five year mission, explored strange new worlds, sought out new life and new civilizations, and boldly went where no man had gone before, in making his claim to the final frontier. The Honorable Mr. Martin should be reminded that Starfleet Headquarters is in San Francisco, USA. Captain Kirk was from Ohio, he only worked in space.

This is all nonsense. If the Canadian Parliament would just sit down with level heads and review the facts as we know them, they will find that the Galactic War was started by the Romulans and Klingons. Don't try to pin it on President Bush.

The truly sad (and frightening) part here is not that the University of Toronto lent support to the NGOs and Mr. Hellyer as allowing the use of the facilities because honoring different points of view is part of the mission of universities. No, the sad part is that educated men and women in positions of power and influence believe the rantings of New Age Railian nut jobs. These are men and women in leadership positions of our governments who take our tax monies and use them to fund studies into Exopolitics with space aliens from Mars living in South America. Is there not enough terrorism in Heaven and Earth to worry about without adding ET terror to our list of fears?

Two cheetah cubs have been RESCUED! US troops and an Ethiopian veterinarian went to the village where the cubs were being abused and took custody of the brother and sister cheetahs. They were then flown to the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa for treatment.

The plight of the two defenseless cubs was written about around the world, including our very own Mike's America. Today the story has a happy far. The female cub has an eye infection from the injury suffered when one of the poachers that killed the mother kicked her in the face.

Cheetahs are the fastest land animals and can run at speeds upwards of 70 mph for short distances. The greater speed came with sacrifices, though. "With its weak jaws and small teeth, the price it paid for speed, it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or young," according to the Cheetah Conservation Fund. But not even cheetahs can outrun the evils of man. It is doubtful these two cubs will ever live the life of cheetahs in the wild, but we hope they live without abuse and fear as all children should.

Terrorism takes many forms and when US Soldiers of our Counterterrorism Task Forces discover it they stamp it out quickly. In this case, the victims were not of the human variety, but they needed help and they got it without hesitation. That is the kind of response I expect from my fellow Americans. Whether people in need or animals in need, America is there to give aid and comfort.

US 2006 Troop Withdrawal No Secret

An American troop drawdown most certainly did not come as a surprise to Congressman John Murtha or the House Democrats. The House of Representatives knew for months that plans for US troops withdrawal had been in the works for months. The news has been common knowledge from India to China to England to the US. Personally, I knew about the plans in July.

Jan14,2005 Dawn Online Edition
US troops may quit Iraq this year: Powell
"US troops will begin leaving Iraq this year, Secretary of State Colin Powell said in an interview released by the State Department on Thursday... In the interview with National Public Radio, Mr Powell gave no timetable for troop withdrawal, but said: "I believe that during 2005 (the Iraqis) will be able to assume a greater burden, and ... the burden on our troops should go down, and we should start to see our numbers going in the other direction."

Would (former) Secratary of State Colin Powell lie?

Feb4,2005 Global Security
Big cuts in US forces in Iraq unlikely until 2006
"Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said Thursday that the Pentagon plans to maintain 135,000 troops in Iraq through this year, with some 15,000 troops whose deployment had already been extended for the election expected to go home shortly.
It was widely believed that there would be no significant decrease in the American presence in Iraq through early 2006. A gradual reduction is expected to follow."

Wolfowitz is one of the guys who wanted the war. Why would he want it to end so soon?

May4,2005 Forbes
Iraqis hope to fully replace US troops by end-2006 - Iraq defence
"The Iraqi army will fully replace US-led coalition forces in the country by early 2007, once it has enough experience, Bruska Shaways, the director general of the Iraqi defence ministry said. 'By the end of 2005, we'll have fewer multinational forces (in Iraq) and by the end of 2006, it will be complete,' the number two official said, speaking of their withdrawal."

Iraq has made clear they intend to ask the US forces to leave as soon as Iraqi troops are ready. They know the risks of early withdrawal. If the Mr. Shaways thinks Iraq is ready, then we should believe him.

Jul27,2005 Guardian Unlimited
Iraqi PM urges speedy withdrawal of US troops
"Reuters quoted Mr Jaafari as saying it was the Iraqi people's "great desire" to see US-led forces leave and domestic forces take more responsibility.
Mr Rumsfeld said no exact timetable had been set but, speaking through a translator, said: "We confirm, and we desire, speed in that regard."
Earlier, General George Casey, the leading US military commander in Iraq, told reporters he believed a US troop withdrawal could begin by spring 2006.
However, he said expansion of the insurgency or political problems could hinder such a move.
The general made a similar prediction earlier this year - but the Iraqi insurgency worsened after Mr Jaafari's government took power in April."

This is the kind of operation that puts Generals in history books. General Casey has every vain-glorious reason to prolong the war, but he's saying Iraq will be ready by the end of 2006.

Jul27,2005 China Daily
Iraq wants quick U.S. troops withdrawal
"Iraq's transitional prime minister called Wednesday for a speedy withdrawal of U.S. troops and the top U.S. commander said he believed a 'fairly substantial' pullout could begin next spring and summer."

A substantial pullout in the spring and summer of 2006 at the height of the battle season is not generally the brightest move. The Iraqis again are saying they can handle the risks.

Jul28,2005 NewsMax
U.S. General Seeks Iraq Pullout by 2006
"Pentagon officials have provided little detail in discussing the possible withdrawal of forces from Iraq. The most specific estimate has come from Lt. Gen. John Vines, who runs day-to-day military operations in Iraq. He said in June that a reduction of "four or five brigades" - perhaps 20,000 troops out of the current 135,000 - was possible sometime next year."

Vines is the guy who actually runs the war, the decision guy closest to the fight and he says we can leave in 2006.

Jul28,2005 Washington Post
U.S. Signals Spring Start for Pullout
"The top U.S. military leader in Iraq said Wednesday there could be substantial withdrawals of some of the 135,000 U.S. troops in the country as early as next spring.
Gen. George W. Casey said that despite continued lethal attacks by insurgents, the security situation in Iraq had improved. He reiterated a position he had taken earlier this year on the possible decrease in the U.S. military presence during a one-day visit by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld for meetings with Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari."

Just to be sure everybody heard him, Gen. Casey repeats his belief that American troops can start their withdrawal in 2006.

Aug1,2005 The Independent Institute
The Politics of Troop Withdrawal
"In Iraq, like everywhere else, if things don’t add up, it is safe to assume that politics is involved. Although the insurgency in recent months has worsened, Gen. George W. Casey, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, astonishingly claims that security in Iraq has improved and that substantial U.S. troop withdrawals are possible by as early as next spring. What gives? The congressional elections in 2006."

Even the anti-war folks at The Independent Institute were aware of the American intention to withdraw although the author is skeptical of the reasons and timing. No surprise, but it remains, the anti-war guys knew.

Aug8,2005 Australian Broadcasting Corporation
US plans large scale Iraq troop withdrawal in 2006
"For its part the Bush administration is making preparations for a large scale withdrawal of US troops from Iraq by the middle of next year. The New York Times is reporting that senior Pentagon officials are formulating a plan to remove up to 30,000 of the 138,000 US troops if security conditions improve."

The Aussies were aware of the plan. Didn't Murtha read the New York Times?

U.S. General Outlines Possible Troop Withdrawal in Iraq
"The top U.S. military commander in the Middle East has outlined a plan to reduce U.S. forces in Iraq by some 20,000 to 30,000 troops by the middle of next year, The New York Times reported Aug. 7.
If December’s vote goes according to plan, U.S. forces could be reduced to around 138,000, and then by another 20,000 to 30,000 by late spring, the Times said, citing senior officers."

Good grief! Even the French press had heard the American troops could be reduced in 2006.

Sep 29,2005 Defense and the National Interest
Iraq Drawdown Plan Offers Wide-Ranging Options, Including Big Cuts
"A wide-ranging U.S. military plan for reducing forces in Iraq includes a best-case option to cut the “steady state” of approximately 140,000 troops in half by spring 2006, according to officials who have seen the blueprint approved by Gen. George Casey, the top Army officer in Iraq."

Not just a rumor anymore, people have actually seen actual blueprints approved by Casey. It's written down and officials are reading and evaluating the plan. Now, it's up to the terrorists and insurgents as to whether we can really leave. If they refrain from killing too many people and destroying too much infrastructure, we will have no reason to stay.

The only reason the bad guys would have for preventing American troops from leaving is the allure and ease that our presence in Iraq provides in killing an infidel, thus guaranteeing a ticket to heaven.

The Murtha demand came on the heels of well known information and was nothing but a political stunt that backfired when House Republicans called their bluff. When Murtha conducted his own on-line poll asking if Americans supported his immediate withdrawal demand, he had to withdraw the poll because he was losing by a landslide. We all want the troops home, but when the job is done and Iraqis can stand on their own.

Iraqis Shanghaied Into Insurgency

"BAGHDAD, 23 November (IRIN) - Mahmoud Kaduri, 29, recalled bitterly how he was forced to work with the insurgency currently fighting US and Iraqi government troops. "They told me to work with them or my son would be killed," he recalled.
"I had no option, I had to save my child," he added."
